YOUNG, Eld. Gerard "St. Louis" - Age 56, passed away Sunday, September 6, 2009 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI. Family hour 10:30AM Monday, September 14, 2009 at The Rock Ministries, G-5318 N. Saginaw St., with funeral service commencing at 11:30AM, Pastor Robert L. Parrish officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30AM Monday. Eld. Young will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 10AM-6PM Sunday. Elder Gerard “St. Louis” Young was born August 18, 1953 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Noah and Margaret Young. Elder Young moved to Flint, Michigan in the early 1970’s and accepted a position at General Motors, where he worked until retiring in 2006. Elder Young attended the Full Gospel Christian Bible Theology College for two years and was an Elder and Assistant Pastor at the Rock Ministries. He was a devoted husband, an exceptional father, a genuine friend, but most importantly a man of God. Elder Young enjoyed preaching and teaching God’s word, golfing, swimming, eating fish, barbecuing, and spending time with his family and friends. He leaves to cherish his memory: devoted wife, Barbara Young; 7 daughters, Keesha (Maurice) Tripplett, Makela Williams, Katrina Parks, Balicia Young and Teaira Young, all of Flint, Tyron Donaldson and Africa Young both of Tulsa, OK; 2 sons, Gerard Donaldson of Tulsa, OK and Jermaine Parks of Flint; mother, Margaret Young; 24 + grandchildren; 4 sisters, Deborah Young-Williams of Bakersfield, CA, Janola (Andrew) Prestwood of Fortworth, TX, Gloria (Donald) Love and Penny Young; 4 brothers, Noah Young, Darnell (Loretta) Young, Ernest (Cleopatra) Young and John (Candance) Young, all of St. Louis, MO; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters and brothers-in-law and friends including special friends, James Patrick, Pastor Robert Parrish, Elder Larry Taylor, Calvin Leeper and all the men of The Rock Ministries. Elder Young was preceded in death by his 2 sons, Victor Donaldson and Terrence Young; and father, Noah Young. The family would like to express special thanks to The Rock Ministries and Henry Ford Hospital.
