MCGAUGHY, Mr. Elbert Lee, Sr. "Pete, Peewee" - Age 73, passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2005 at his residence. Family hour 1:30PM Tuesday, November 1, 2005 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 2PM. Eld. Robert Smith, officiating. Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, G-5175 E. Bristol Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30PM Tuesday. Mr. McGaughy, Sr. will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Monday. Mr. Elbert Lee McGaughy, Sr. was born on March 18, 1932 in Tyronza, Arkansas, the son of Mr. George and Gussie McGaughy. He accepted Christ at an early age. Elbert united in Holy Matrimony to Ilovie Mae Wynne on November 23, 1951. He was an Honorably Discharged Veteran of the United States Air Force. Shortly thereafter, in 1954 he relocated his family to Flint. Elbert retired after 32 years of service from Fisher Body Shop Grand Blanc, a division of General Motors Corporation, where he served as committeeman for several years. He was formerly a member of UAW Local #1292. Before becoming ill, Elbert was an active member of the International F. & A.M. Masons. He served as a member of the Old Timers, and Veterans of Foreign War Clubs. He enjoyed watching sports, doing crossword puzzles and spending time with his family. Mr. Elbert Lee McGaughy, Sr. leaves to cherish his memory: devoted wife of 53 years, Ilovie Mai; daughter, Anita L.Pouncil; 4 sons, Elbert (Nathania) McGaughy, Jr., Joel (Kathy), Michael (Jeanne) McGaughy, all of Flint, and Darrell (Donna) McGaughy of San Diego, CA; 2 sisters, Mary Willis and Georgia M. Campbell, all of Flint; brother, Russell McGaughy of Tiptonville, TN; 7 sisters-in-law, Almetra Carter, Dorothy (Archie) Bibbs, Louise Ray, Virginia Berry, Loretta (Bernard) Grant, Margree Alexander, and Louella Wynne; 2 brothers-in-law, Mack (Dorothy) Wynne, Roger (Jean) Wynne, Sr., all of Flint; 12 grandchildren, Elbert L. McGaughy III, Jhamal McGaughy, Kharah Harrison, Antione Jackson, Enrico Gardner, Shayday Gale, Cyntoyia Hall, Jarrad, Dominique and Danyelle Pouncil, Tia McGaughy and Darrell McGaughy, Jr.; 3 great-grandchildren; special nephews, Martenis and Ismael Vaughn; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including special friends, Charles "Cowboy" Belton, III. Mr. Elbert Lee McGaughy, Sr. was preceded in death by his parents, George and Gussie McGaughy; sister, Minnie Lee Jackson.
