JORDAN, Mr. Edward, Sr. - Age 65, passed away, Monday, January 2, 2012 at his residence. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 9, 2012 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11 a.m. Rev. Dr. Clarence J. Counts, officiating. Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, G-5175 E. Bristol Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 a.m. Monday. Mr. Jordan will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. Mr. Edward “Ed” Jordan, Sr. was born October 20, 1946 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Mary and Tommy Jordan, Sr. “Ed” was a lifelong resident of Flint for most of his life and attended Beecher High School. He spent most of his professional career working on the assembly line at General Motors before retiring in 1987. Before and after retiring, he continued to work and develop businesses. “Ed” was a very good Salesman, Landlord and Motivator. He also went on to start his own weekly newspaper called, The Saginaw County Weekly Journal in Saginaw, Michigan in which he was CEO and Publisher; he published the news for well over 15 years. After closing the newspaper, Edward who was an avid reader and who loved to learn, decided to continue his education at the University of Michigan-Flint, where he studied Arabic and World History. He later wanted to try his hand at another trade and studied Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Technology at Mott Community College until taking ill in 2008. “Ed” loved being around people, reading, learning and discussing Religion, Philosophy and History. He was married for several years. “Ed” was a great father and most importantly a best friend to his children and grandchildren. He was also a Spiritual man. “Ed” lived his life to the fullest with no regrets. He leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Bernadette Jordan; children from previous marriages, son, Carlos E. Jordan; two daughters, Michelle James (Duval James) and Tina Jordan; three grandchildren, Solomon A. Faye, Christian D. James and Erick Mitchell; two sisters, Anna (James) Thomas and Wanda (Mason) Tremble; five brothers, Eddie Jordan, Ricky (Monica) Jordan, Jason (Alicia) Jordan, Marvin Jordan and Earl (Jean) Jordan; 33 nieces and nephews; a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins, other relatives and many, many friends including relatives both in and out of state; special nephew, Cedric Crawford and special friends, Katherine Woods, Alex Houston, Ondré August, Vera (Jordan) Ferrell, Vernice Jordan and Matthew Shelton. Mr. Jordan was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Tommie Jordan Sr.; three sisters, Mary Hodge, Kathleen Quince and Judith Brown; two brothers, Tommie Jordan, Jr. and James Jordan; maternal grandparents, Henrietta and Norah Duncan and paternal grandmother, Anna Jordan. The family would like to express a very special thanks to the Wheeler, Duncan, Campbell and Quince families.
