Mr. Edward Greene

GREENE, Mr. Edward - Age 67, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2016 at his residence. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 25, 2016 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Rev. Kenneth L. Stewart, Officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 a.m. Mr. Greene will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 1 p.m. - 8 p.m. Thursday. Mr. Edward R. “Butch” Greene was born October 24, 1948 in North Carolina the son of Mr. & Mrs. Paul and Mattie Greene. He attended North Carolina Public Schools. Soon after graduating high school, Edward enlisted in the United States Air Force and was Honorably Discharged. Edward met his beloved Charlene Greene in Chicago, IL in 1968. The couple joined hands in Holy Matrimony in 1974. Edward moved his family to Flint, Michigan in 1975. He was a College Professor at Mott Community College and was a Driver’s Education Instructor. Edward enjoyed cooking, fishing, traveling and playing chess. There was nothing he enjoyed more than spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren. Mr. Edward R. “Butch” Greene leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Charlene Greene of Flint; daughter, Joi Greene of Chicago, IL; sons, Edward R. Greene Jr. of Long Island, NY and Paul Greene; 6 step-children, Arthur, JoAnn, Rickey, Tony, Patricia, and Perry all of Flint; sisters, Madeline (Dwayne) Greene-Marshall and Beverly Greene; brothers, Paul F. Greene Jr. and Melvin D. (Shirley) Greene all of Orange County, NJ; sisters-in-law, Bernice and Eula Mae both of Chicago, IL and Louise of Mississippi; brother-in-law, Johnnie (Mildred) Linzy of Gary, IN; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends including special friend, Carl and special granddaughters, Carrie Gordon, Sharhonda and Kissie Brown. Mr. Greene was preceded in death by his step-daughter, Patricia Brown; grandson, Dakari Mitchell; parents, Mr. & Mrs. Paul and Mattie Greene; sister, Judy Greene; brother, Harold Greene; mother and father-in-law, John and Jannie Mae Linzy; and dog, Chico.
