BURNS, Mr. Edward - Age 42, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Kith Haven. Family hour 11 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2012 at House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church, 1851 W. Carpenter Rd., with funeral service commencing at 12Noon. Pastor Kenneth L. Stewart, Host Pastor. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, 5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11 a.m. Monday. Mr. Burns will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. Mr. Edward “Beaver” Burns was born June 19, 1969 in Chicago, Illinois, to the son of Kenneth and Joise Shumpert-Burns. Edward departed this early life on June 16, 2012, at Kith Haven Nursing Home. Edward attended Flint and Chicago Public Schools and went on to purse his education at Mott Community College. He enjoyed playing sports, being with family and friends, being in his new band (The Burns Band) where he just purchased: a keyboard, tambourine, guitar, and microphones. Edward also loved to being a comedian! Edward “Beaver” Burns was joined in Holy Matrimony to Shalonda Page on September 27, 1997. Mr. Edward “Beaver” Burns leaves to cherish his sweet memories: wife, Shalonda Burns; of Flint; daughter; Kahyla McNeal; granddaughter, Alayah Flowers of Minneapolis, MN; stepchildren, Diyonnte Page, Jheleecia Page, and Jhevaughna Williams, all of Flint; father, Kenneth Burns of Chicago, IL; sisters, Takisha “Lay-Lay” Burns of Flint and Rita Moore of Chicago, IL; brother, Laron Burns of Flint; grandmother, Ida Shumpert of Flint; aunts, Johnnie (John) Mallett-Caruthers, Lagloria Shumpert, Flora Avant, all of Flint, Wenda Coats, Willinda Burns and Hattilyn Burns, all of Chicago, IL and Earnestine Jackson of Denver, CO; uncles, William “Bartell” Burns, Lamont (Teresa) Burns and Bennie (Ann) Powell, all of Chicago, IL, Terrier (Luella) Shumpert of Fort Wayne, IN, Wilbert Shumpert and Kenneth Shumpert, both of Flint; nieces, Shineeka “Neeka” Burns, Keyonna Burns and Shantierra Perry; nephews, Rev. Tommy ”Rell” Burns of Washington DC, Gerald Reeves, Jerome “Ou Bay” Barfield, Darrell “Booka” Robertson, Jr. Fedell Graves and Jaquez Jackson, all of Flint; special cousins, Jermaine” Sleep” Shumpert, Wycie Shumpert, Quincy Murphy, Jamille Burns, Andre Burns, Vincent Anderson, and Kenneth Anderson; best friends, Glynn, Danny , Isaac, Robert, Calvin, Rick, Shamar; a host of other relatives and friends too numerous to name. Mr. Burns was preceded in death by his mother, Joise Burns; sister, Terri Burns; brother, Reggie Burns; nephew, Clifton Burns and his grandparents.
