Mrs. Edna Marie Stone

STONE, Mrs. Edna Marie - Age 94, passed away Saturday, January 14, 2023, at her residence. Family our 1:30 PM Friday, January 27, 2023, from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM Rev. Al Williams, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 PM Friday. Mrs. Stone will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Thursday. Mrs. Edna Marie (Burns) Stone was born June 18, 1928, in Fairmont, West Virginia, the daughter of Leo and Ruth (Cousins) Burns, she was the eldest child. Edna graduated from Dunbar High School in Fairmont W. VA in 1945. In 1958, she moved with her family to Flint, Michigan where she attended Oakland Community College and graduated in 1971 with a Nursing Degree and was employed with Hurley Medical Center until she retired in 1985. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. Mrs. Stone enjoyed traveling, dancing, listening to music, sports, and attending her High School Reunions. She also loved helping others and spending time with family and friends. Oh yeah, she also cooked the best Cream of Wheat ever!! Edna Marie Stone leaves to cherish her memory: son, William “James” McCullough; adopted daughter/biological granddaughter, Tawana McCullough; 4 step-children, Steve, Michael, Herbie and Bobby Stone, all of Flint, MI, 3 brothers, Lawrence (Armer) Burns of Grand Blanc, MI, Robert Burns of San Francisco, CA and Eugene Burns of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; sister, Ruthann McFadden of Grand Blanc, MI; 3 nieces, Sherika Finklea of Flint, MI, Lawren (Justin) Anderson of Columbus, OH and Kimberly Burns of Galveston, TX; 2 great-nieces, Kennedi Stokes and Michala Lyon, both of Flint, MI; 7 nephews, James Burns of Dallas, TX, Eric Burns of San Francisco, CA Shaun and Eric Burns of Los Angeles, CA, Lawrence and Michael Lyon, both of Flint, MI; sister-in-law, Della (Joe) Lewis of Swartz Creek, MI. Mrs. Stone also leaves to cherish her memory: 8 grandchildren, Dion Stephenson of Kalamazoo, MI, Tawana, Emir and Omar McCullough, Keion Morgan, Harold Donaldson, Brent Williams, DaShandra (William) Britt, all of Flint, MI and Breonna Williams of Detroit, MI; 26 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends including special friends and family, Deloris Odom, Sandy Neal, Katy Vaughn, Regina Morgan, Andrea Williams, Monica and Kawana Lewis Johnnie Metcalf and Janice Williams. Mrs. Stone was preceded in death by her grandparents, William and Edna Cousins; parents, Leo and Ruth (Cousins) Burns; 3 brothers, Leroy, James and William Burns; son, Theodore Burns; 2 step-sons, Billie and Donnie Stone; daughter-in-law, Gladys Burns; daughter, Dyon Smith; and 2 special daughters, Sharon Lewis Patricia Wise and Mamie Galloway.
