EVANS, Mr. Edmond Clifton "Pie" - Age 77, of Flint was called home by the Lord our God on Friday March 4, 2005, following a short sojoum at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 7-8:00pm Tuesday March 8, 2005 at Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service celebration of his life will be held 11:00am Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church G-5443 N. Saginaw St. Pastor Alfred L. Harris, Sr., officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery G-9506 N. Dort Hwy, Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11:00am Wednesday. Mr. Edmond Clifton "Pie" Evans will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12noon-8pm Tuesday. Edmond, fondly known as "Pie" by his loved ones, was born on July 6, 1927, in Nash County, NC, to Elijah and Ada (nee Wright) Evans. As a young man, he was baptized at Pleasure Hill Baptist Church in Nash County, North Carolina, and his walk with the Lord grew over the years, enabling "Pie" to say to many, "It is well with my soul." "Pie," moved to Flint in 1953, and began working for General Motors Truck Assembly. He retired as a paint inspector from Chevrolet Truck & Bus in 1992 after completing 37 years of service. Mr. Evans was a quiet man who took great pleasure in spending time with his family and friends, puttering in his yard, and in watching God's world of animals and flowers revolve around him. Many have called him friend, "Pie," was a long time member of the Macedonia Baptist Church. Mr. Edmond Clifton "Pie" Evans leaves to cherish his sweet memories his wife of 52 years, Adelaide, an associate minister of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church; two daughters, Irene (Michael) Johnson of Hazelwood, MO, and Alice D. Evans, son, Quintin (Sharon) Evans both of Flint, MI; three grandchildren, Stanisha, Javalynn and Andrell Evans of Denver, CO; 2 sisters, Ruby (Leslie) McWilliams of Flint, MI, and Daisy Buckner of Grand Blanc, MI; 6 brothers, Charles (Ella Ree) Evans and John (Julia) Evans all of Flint, MI, Alex (Bessie) Evans and Derick Evans all of Grand Blanc, MI, Ben (Beatrice) Evans of Teaneck, NJ, Roger (Rachel) Evans of Maplewood, NJ; spiritual brother, Rev. Irvin Young of Mt. Morris, MI; "Pie," and his wife shared 48 nieces and nephews; aunt, Dorothy Avent, uncle, Rev. Lee Wright both of NC; daughter-in-law, Gwendolyn Evans (the late Stanley Evans) of Denver, CO; 5 sisters-in-law; 2 brothers-in-law. Mr. Edmond Clifton "Pie" Evans was preceded in death by his daughter, 2 sons, and parents. The family deeply appreciates the love, prayers and support given by our family, friends and neighbors during this time. We also offer sincere thanks to "Pie's" physicians and doctors, Syed A. Sattar, M. Varkey Thomas, Orlando Filos, Dong Whan Oh and Rizwan Danish, and their staffs, and to "Vickie" and other staff at Hurley Medical Cancer Center.
