Ms. Edlene Pope

POPE, Ms. Edlene - Age 76, passed away Monday, August 9, 2021 Family hour 10:00 AM Friday, August 20, 2021 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM, Pastor Derrick Aldridge, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Funeral Home 10:00 AM Friday. Ms. Pope will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-6:00 PM Thursday. Ms. Edlene Pope was born May 5, 1945 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the only child of Edward and Louise (Madison) Pope. Edlene later moved to Saginaw, MI as a child and graduated from Saginaw High School. After moving to Flint, Michigan she obtained her first job at Herrlich Drug Store and later retired from AC Spark Plug, a division of General Motors Corporation and retired after 36 years of service. In her spare time she enjoyed watching judge shows, westerns, traveling, playing cards and spending time with her family and friends. Edlene also enjoyed cooking and attending the Cincinnati Jazz Festival faithfully. Although she birthed 2 children, she had motherly love for everyone she came in contact with. Ms. Edlene Pope leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Shelby Pope; son, Embery (Sandra) Pope Sr.; grandchildren, Embery Pope Jr. Christopher Pope, Embrion Pope, Gregory Edwards, Mandalyn Pope-Hollis, all of Flint, Embria Pope of Pontiac, MI and Deondrick Royster of New York; 7 great-grandchildren; 3 cousins, Howard (Cynthia) Johnson of Columbus, OH and Ann Pope of Cincinnati, OH; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Willa Davis, Gladys Powell, Jackie Porter, Lorenzo Childs, Jill Billingsley, Edwina Watkins; special nieces and nephews, Char Pippins, Debbie Johnsn, Allan Pippins, George Cleaves and Anthony Holder. Ms. Pope was preceded in death by her mother, Louise (Madison) Wilson; father, Edward Pope; special friends, Claudette Pippins and Maxine Miles; and grandparents. The family would like to express special thanks to Xenia Swift, Tammy Jones, Paula Edwards, the Pippins family, Kevin Scroggins, McLaren-Flint, Lawrence E.
