Edith Belew

BELEW, Mrs. Edith Ann - Age 83, passed away Thursday, March 4, 2010 at her residence. Family hour 10 a.m. Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Bethel United Methodist Church, 1309 N. Ballenger Hwy, with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m., Rev. Dr. Tara Sutton, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Thursday. Mrs. Belew will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 10-8 p.m. Wednesday. Mrs. Edith Ann Belew was born October 16, 1926 in Indianapolis, Indiana, the daughter of William Luther and Sallie Mae (McClellan) Reed. The family moved to Flint in 1926. Edith attended Flint Public Schools and graduated from Central High School. She was hired by General Motors and retired from A. C. Spark Plug in December 1976 with more than 30 years of service. Edith joined Bethel United Methodist Church in her youth where she remained a member her entire life. Edith Ann married Archie Belew on February 28, 1954 and to this union three daughters were born. Mrs. Edith Ann Belew leaves to cherish her memory: devoted daughters, Edythe (Belew) Hatter-Williams of East Lansing, MI and Cheree Belew (Winfred Loper) of Flint, MI; son-in-law, Tyrone Griffin; grandchildren, Taryn Griffin, Tiana Griffin (Stanley Jennings Jr.), Edythe Brown (Min. Antonio Brown Sr.), Tiffany Griffin, Roneshia Williams, Courtney Williams, Tonya Brown, Tyrone Hamlin; great grandchildren JaQuay Griffin, Rajee Griffin, Allanah Griffin, RaShon Griffin, Romell Griffin, Stanley Jennings III, Ramarion Jennings, Nashiya Scales, Antonio Brown Jr., Ethan Brown, and Evan Brown; “adopted sons” Pierre Copeland and Charles Brown Jr.; one sister Ruby (Arthur) Houston of Litchfield Park, AZ; sisters-in-law, Hazel (Cornelius) Whitthorne of Montrose, MI; Helen Belew of McLemoresville, TN; one brother, Albert (Ida) Reed, Sr. of Rochester Hills, MI; brothers-in-law, Thomas Rosborough of Mt. Morris, MI and J.D. Pearson of McLemoresville, TN; a host of other nieces, nephews, friends, and cousins including special friends Margaret Davidson, Doris Davis, Oliver Edwards Sr., Evelyn Rutledge, James and Alice Tyiska, and Irma Urquhart. Mrs. Edith Ann Belew was preceded in death by her husband, Archie B. Belew; daughter, Arnetta L. Griffin; parents, Walter and Sallie Reed; sisters, Betty Jane Rosborough and Ernestine Reed; sisters-in-law, Ruby D. Belew, Ruth DeShong, Sammie Ree Pearson, Josephine Reaves, Lurlean Murphy, and Othello Johnson; brothers-in-law, James Belew; Lee L. DeShong, William Reaves, Sherrod Johnson and Stanley Murphy; father and mother-in-law Wesley and Alice Belew; brother, William Reed, Jr.; cousin, Vincent Van Hurley; and nephews, Manley DeShong and Albert Reed, Jr. The family would like to express special thanks to Lawrence E.
