Earnesteen Buggs

BUGGS, Mrs. Earnesteen - Age 76, passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at her residence. Family hour 11:30AM Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at First Union Missionary Baptist Church, 7004 Fleming Rd., with funeral service commencing at 12Noon, Rev. Archie Powell, Jr., officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Blvd., G-9506 N. Dort Hwy. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11:30AM Tuesday. Mrs. Buggs will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Monday. Mother Earnesteen Buggs was born May 9, 1932 in Bernice, Louisiana, the daughter of Melinda Gray and Wes Wright. Mother Buggs was a Pillar in the community. She was married to the late William Buggs for over 36 years. Mother Buggs worked for the Flint Board of Education for over 40 years serving at Parkland and Emerson Schools, before retiring from Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School. In 1985 she became a member of First Union Missionary Baptist Church, where she became a choir member. She immediately got involved and went on to served on the Usher Board and Kitchen Committee. Mother Buggs was a big supporter of our young people. She was president of the scholarship committee, where she helped and encouraged youths to further their education. Mother Buggs was also part of the Willing Workers. She enjoyed fishing and shopping. Mother Earnesteen Buggs leaves to cherish her memory: 6 daughters, Mary Louise Robinson of Texas, Rose, Debroah and Vivian Buggs, Emily Hill and Lavinia (Robert L.) Smith; 4 sons, William Jr., Jeffrey, Gerald (Jackie) and Kenneth Buggs, all of Flint; 14 grandchildren, Dequala, Eddie Jr., of Texas, Damika, Dequan, Sterling, Asia, John, Deidre, Kierra, Gerald Jr., Matthew, Jeffrey Jr., Jequala and Quinetta; 2 great-grandchildren, Jaylen and Santana Robinson of Texas; brother, Willie Wright Jr. of Bernice, LA; 3 nieces, Kamala Lowe of Flint, Monica Wright of Chicago and Mary Alice (Elton) Fryer of Bernice, LA; cousin, Mary Robinson of Las Vegas; a host of other relatives and friends including the entire Race Street neighbors and family, Alvin Chambers and Earnestine Moore. Mother Buggs was preceded in death by her husband, William Buggs (1985); parents; 1 sister and 2 brothers. The family would like to express special thanks to Rev. Archie Powell, Jr. and First Union Missionary Baptist Church family and the McDaniels family.
