THOMPSON, Mr. Earnest Sr. - 74, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 20, 2014 at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, 3020 Dupont St. with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Kevin Thompson officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Mr. Thompson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 12 p.m.-8 p.m. Friday. Mr. Earnest “Sonny Boy” Thompson Sr. age 74 passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Hurley Medical Center. Mr. Earnest Thompson Sr. better known as “Sonny Boy” was born November 6, 1939 in Flora, Mississippi the son of L.G. and Everlena (Outland) Thompson. He was a member of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church. He graduated from Burgess High School in Flora, MS and moved to Flint in his late twenties. Earnest began working for General Motors UAW 596 in October of 1965 and retired from Chevy Truck and Bus November of 1999 after 34 years of services. He was also a member of Local 598. He married Everlena Wilkerson December 23, 1960 and they had 5 children from that union. Earnest loved people, and was always helpful to anyone who would need help. He was a fun loving person, but most of all he loved his family Mr. Earnest Thompson Sr. leaves to cherish his memory: 2 daughters, Sandra Thompson and Laura Bates; 5 sons, Ronald (Adrean) Thompson, Jermaric (Serena) Williams, DeAndre, James (Trina) Smith and Tytanuel (Arlena) Keys; 25 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren;1 sister, Classie Thompson; 1 brother, Robert Thompson; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; 2 aunts, Alice Thompson of IL and Reecy (McCoy) Outland of MS; 9 sisters-in-law; 6 brothers-in-law; a host of other relatives and friends including special people; Ms. Walker, Ms. Irene, Ms. Chance, Ms. Maudene, Crocker Street, KaDarwin,Joy, Allottiney and Teresa. Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by wife, Everlena Wilkerson; parents, L.G. and Everlena Thompson; 2 sons, Earnest Jr. and Louis Thompson; sister, Reatha Lewis; 5 brothers, Ossie, Julius, John Thompson, Roy Moore, L.G. Thompson Jr.; 6 grandchildren. The family would like to express special thanks to Thompson Family, Rev.
