Mr. Earnest Sanders Jr.

SANDERS JR., Mr. Earnest - Age 69, passed away Monday, October 10, 2016 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour will be 11:00 AM Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Family Missionary Baptist Church, 2520 Dupont St.., with funeral service commencing at 12:00 PM, Rev. Charles Levy, Officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, 4413 Flushing Rd.. Friends and Pallbearers will assemble at the church 11:00 AM Saturday. Mr. Sanders will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 12 Noon to 8 PM on Friday with family present from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm. Mr. Earnest Sanders Jr. was born January 20, 1947 to Earnest Sr. and Delois (Neal) Sanders. He was the oldest of 7 children. Earnest attended Calvary Baptist Church and he attended Lafayette Schools in Camden, AR. He was a member of the Graduating Class of “1965”. Earnest was offered a basketball scholarship to attend Philander Smith College in Little Rock, AR, but he chose to enlist in the United States Air Force. He served for 3 years, stationed in Amarillo, TX. After being Honorably Discharged he came to Flint, Michigan. There he began working for General Motors. Earnest also joined the United States Navy Reserve and he served them honorably for 15 years. Earnest graduated from Detroit College of Business where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Management. Upon coming to Flint, Earnest attended New Haven Baptist Church, later joining Family Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Tellis Simon. He was a faithful member serving on the Usher Board and Finance Committee through all his sickness Earnest never missed Church! He loved his church dearly. Mr. Earnest Sanders Jr. leaves to cherish his memory; daughters, Erica Sanders Miller of Garden City, MI, Tami Sanders Womack of Dallas, TX, Pam Daniels of North Carolina, Sandra Allen, Vicki Williams and Shameka Smith , all of Flint; sons, Earnest Sanders III of Flint, William McElroy of Atlanta, GA, Antwan and Derrick Johnson, both of Flint, and Antonio Johnson; special son, Reginald Hickman; grandchildren, Shawn “Chip”, JeQualyn, Earnest Sanders IV, Malik Jacoby, Emiyah, Quenterro, Jamonta and 10 other grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sisters, LaTonya Sanders Hill of El Dorado, AR and Laurice Sanders of Burton, MI; brothers, James “Frenchie” Sanders of Flint, and Maurice Sanders of Louann, AR; special friend, Sharon Haynes; special nieces, Jennifer, Lisa, Vanessa “Jane” Sanders, Teheava Jackson of Little Rock, AR; special nephews, James Jr. “Lil James” and Reginald Underwood; best friends, Sam Harvey, Joe Vickers, Roger Bragg, Plant 31 Power Train, the Family Baptist Church family and many other friends and family. Mr. Sanders was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest Sr. and Delois Sanders; sister, Frances; 2 brothers, Larry and Leroy. The Sanders Family wants to thank everyone for their support.
