BANKS, Mr. Earnest, Jr.- Age 55, passed away Sunday, August 1, 2010 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 1:30p.m. Friday, August 6, 2010 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 2p.m. Rev. Albert W. Hare, officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30p.m. Friday. Mr. Banks will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home,and may be viewed from 12Noon-8p.m. Thursday. Mr. Earnest Banks, Jr. gave his life to Christ on March 29, 1964 and was a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church where the late Rev. Raymond Davis pastured. Earnest Jr. the second child of the late Earnest and Ina Banks was born August 7, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois. Earnest and Ina Banks moved their family to Colp, Illinois in 1958, where Earnest Jr. received his High School Education and graduated in the Spring of 1972. Shortly after graduation Earnest Jr. enlisted in the Armed Services which he did his Basic Training at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO and was station out of Washington, D.C. He served his country for 3 years. Earnest Jr. also worked for the Coal Mines and General Telephone Electronics as a Lineman. He was a man who always loved to laugh and tease. Earnest Jr. always had a smile. He was a man who loved his children and grandchildren. Mr. Earnest Banks, Jr. leaves to mourn his loss: 4 daughters, Jeanine (Banks) Norris, Alicia, Camille, and Kyla Banks, all of Flint; 2 sons, Earnest III and Justin Banks; 15 grandchildren, all of Flint; brother, Michael Banks of Colp, IL; 3 sisters, Marlena (Glenn) “D” (Banks) Larry of Texarkana, TX, Stephanie “Bookee” Banks and Gina (Jason) (Banks) Hart, all of Colp, IL; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; special uncle, Elijah, uncle, Joe Banks; special aunt, Gloria (Joe) Banks of Columbus, Ohio, aunt, Ora E. (Thomas) Nelson of Cridersville, OH and Sarah (Stockton) Norvell of Lexington, KY. Mr. Banks, Jr. was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest and Ina Banks.
