Dorothy Stubbs

STUBBS, Mrs. Dorothy - Age 72, passed away Sunday, August 3, 2008 at Avalon Hospice. Family hour 10AM Saturday, August 9, 2008 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11AM. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10AM Saturday. Mrs. Stubbs will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Friday. Ms. Dorothy Lee Tecola Stubbs was born October 29, 1935 in Flint, MI, the daughter of Leon Stubbs and Anna Mae (Parish) Warren. Dorothy resided in Flint her entire life and was a member of New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church until her illness. She attended Parkland, Emerson and Northern Schools. Dorothy was a retiree of General Motors and a member of UAW Local #651. Bingo, playing cards, her children and listening to Christian music was Dorothy’s favorite hobbies. A more caring, sensitive, very loving person than “Dot” would be hard to find. She was full of love to everyone and lived to please others. Ms. Dorothy Lee Tecola Stubbs leaves to cherish her memory: 4 daughters, Sharon (Arthur) Stubbs, Barbara Garrett, Debra (Marcus) Cummings of Maryland and Simone Willingham; 5 sons, Vernon (Sharletta) Stubbs, Darwin Jones, Kevin (Tiffany) Stubbs, Rory (Frances) Clayborn and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Ellison; 27 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; sister, Betsy Short; 12 nieces; 12 nephews; uncle, Richard Day of New York, NY; a host of cousins including eldest cousin, Pecola Rhodes; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Pastor Viola Green and the Cummings family. Ms. Stubbs was preceded in death by her mother, Anna Mae (Parish) Warren; father, Leon Stubbs, Sr.; son, Quentin Stubbs; grandson, Bryant Stubbs; grandparents, Jaynes Gertrude Warren and Pearline Stubbs; brother and sister-in-law, Leon (Gladys) Stubbs, Jr.; and a host of aunts, uncles, Stubbs and Warren families. The family would like to express special thanks to special friends, Tony (Najet) Stepthen, Dr. Elmahdi Saeed, Hurley Medical Center, Michelle-Social Worker and the staff of Avalon Hospice. .
