SPEAR, Mrs. Dorothy (Hollins) - Age 84, passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:00 AM Tuesday, October 17, 2023 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Pastor Randolph White officiating. interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, G-5175 E. Bristol Road, Burton, Michigan. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:00 AM Tuesday. Mrs. Spear will lie in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed during family hour only. Mrs. Dorothy Ella “Hollins” Spear was born August 24, 1939 in Cambridge, Ohio, the daughter of Idus H. and Geneva P. Hollins. Dorothy was a resident of Flint, Michigan. Dorothy was a cheerleader at Flint Central High School and a majorette with the Elks. Dorothy was employed at Champion Spark Plug and March Electric in Cambridge, Ohio, and Marian Hall in Flint, Michigan. Dorothy was also a very skilled and compassionate Home Health Aid in Flint, Michigan. Dorothy loved her card games, dominos, family barbecues and parties in her backyard. Let’s not forget her Casino trips. Dorothy was a strong-willed woman throughout her life and illness. Dorothy cherished being able to strengthen her family bonds by spending a great deal of time with her daughter and grandchildren throughout her illness. Dorothy put great effort into expressing her love for her family and being at peace with her journey. Mrs. Dorothy Ella “Hollins” Spear leaves to cherish her memory: Her only child, daughter, Andrea J. Hollins of Flint, Michigan. Her faithful companion, Peaches. 2 granddaughters, Karla Hollins of Southfield, Michigan and Angel Hollins of Flint, Michigan; grandson, Kevin Morris II of Flint, Michigan. 3 great-grandchildren, Kevin Morris III, Isla and Lydia Morris, all of Flint, Michigan. 1 sister, Palmer Anderson of Georgia; brother, Anthony Buckler of Flint, Michigan; 6 nieces, Patricia Jones of Flint, Michigan, Claudia Marshall of Ohio, Frances Stockman and Courtney Gray, both of Georgia, Tracy Hollins of Flint, Michigan and Kelly Hollins of Davison, Michigan. 6 nephews, Jamie Hollins and Charles Stockman, both of California, Michael Elliott, Mario Hollins, Terrance Hollins and Christian Hollins, all of Flint, Michigan; special cousin, Arlene Grayer; a host of cousins, great nieces, nephews and friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Idus H. and Geneva P. Hollins; grandmothers, Lillie Ford and Priscilla Hollins; 1 sister Marian Hollins; 3 brothers, Idus Hollins, Jr., Myron Hollins and James Hollins; nephew, Carlos Hollins; and special friend, Theodore “Ted” Hill. The family would like to express special heartfelt thanks to Yvette “Lady” Lofton, Mr. Art and Eleanora Edmonds for stepping in to help when needed without hesitation and to Gregory Church for keeping her plants together and always making her smile.
