MOORE, Mrs. Dorothy Mae - age 67, passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at her residence. Family hour 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Heavenly Host Full Gospel Baptist Church, 2202 W. Dartmouth St. with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Bishop M.C. Akins officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy., Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 a.m.Wednesday. Mrs. Moore will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 12 p.m.-8 p.m. Tuesday. A Time to be Born Mrs. Dorothy Mae Moore was born on May 29, 1947 in Columbia, Mississippi, the daughter of the late Johnnie and Tommie Pope. A Time to Plant Dorothy loved the Lord and was baptized at an early age. Her mother instilled the love of the Lord in her children and encouraged everyone to have a relationship with Jesus. A Time to Share Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend graduated from Flint Northwestern High School “Class of 1966”. She furthered her education through the Leora Campbell Business School for Women. Mrs. Moore had been employed with Flint Osteopathic Hospital as a receptionist and then as a Dietitian at McLaren Hospital. Mrs. Moore was a dedicated and faithful member of Heavenly Host Full Gospel Baptist Church serving as an Honorary Nurse on the Nurse’s Guild and also on the Mother’s Board. Mrs. Dorothy Moore enjoyed praising the Lord, fishing, shopping, playing cards, traveling, casino trips, spending time with family and baking each one of her children their favorite cake on their birthday. Mrs. Dorothy Moore was known for her love of butterflies and her enormous collection of shoes and hats. A Time To Remember Mrs. Dorothy Mae Moore had her first child with Willie Hopkins, a beautiful baby girl, Mrs. Dalonda (Jimmy) Hill. She was united in Holy Matrimony to Cornelius Threlkeld Sr. To this union four loving handsome sons were born: Cornelius (Nakia) Threlkeld, Jr., Frejone′ (Denise) Threlkeld, Kenyatta Threlkeld, and Jonta′ (Melissa) Threlkeld, all of Flint. She later married the love of her life, Troy Moore and had acquired 8 step-children: Joshua Tabor, Forrestine Odneal, Paulette Carter, Darrell King, Gloria (Mickey) Fisher, Caroline Hunt, Nereon Hunt and Dorethea Embry; 8 grandchildren: Mr. and Mrs. DaLonshea′ (Sondreia) Pope, Miracle Hill-Pope, AnCornika Threlkeld-Buford, Frejone′ Jr., Kenyatta “Baby Doll”, Jonta′ Jr., Jasson and Navaeh Threlkeld; a host of step-grandchildren including Maurice (Angela) Ratcliff, Beverly and Herman King, James (Tamika) Fox; 4 great-grandchildren, Jahki, Jayce, Allanah Pope, Brayden James; a host of step great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Betty Watts of Houston, TX; 1 adopted sister, Geraldine Foote of Carrollton, TX; 1 niece, Robin Robertson of Chicago, IL; 2 nephews, Alfred (Karen) Robertson of Flint, Tom Ed Pope, Jr. of Houston, TX; 1 aunt, Catherine Jackson of Washington D.C.; 1 uncle, Clifford (Emma) Pope, Sr. of Youngstown, PA; 1 brother-in-law, Ambros King of Flint; special cousins, Lille Pope of Columbus, MS, Audrionne Williams, Weldon Lee, Janice Kubacki, Charles (Hazel) Lee, all of Saginaw, MI, Polly Pope of Las Vegas, NV, Clifford Pope, Jr. of Youngstown, PA, Doris Helen Lee and Buddy Robinson, both of Detroit, M; special sisters, Minister Ledora Davis, Willie Jo Foote; god-parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arron (Annie Mae) Flood, god-daughters, Kaili Brandon, Brittany Brewer and Tamara Crowder- Isom; special daughter, Helen “Sharlyn” Scott. A Time to go Home with the Lord and Loved Ones Mrs. Dorothy Mae Moore was preceded in death by 2 husbands, Troy Moore and Cornelius Threlkeld; parents, Johnnie and Tommie Pope; step-daughters, Maxine Bailey and Marilyn Hunt; grandchildren, Dericious Pope and Ja′Keara Threlkeld; brother, Tom Ed Pope.
