Mrs. Dorothy McNeal

MCNEAL, Mrs. Dorothy - Age 79, passed away Sunday, January 19, 2014 at her residence. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 25, 2014 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Daniel Moore presiding, Pastor Patrick McNeal officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Chapel 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Mrs. McNeal will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 3 p.m.-8 p.m. Friday. Mrs. Dorothy McNeal was born October 25, 1934 in Waynesboro, Mississippi, the daughter of Theodore and Everlean Rankin. She was employed at Yankee Department Store, Montgomery Ward’s and J.C. Penny Co. Dorothy served in retail her whole life. She was a faithful member at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church for many years. “Aunt Dot” loved her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other people’s children. She also loved to talk and sing her hymns. Mrs. Dorothy McNeal leaves to cherish her memory: 2 sons, William Craig McNeal and Pastor Patrick (Gloria) McNeal;16 grandchildren, Lisa Horne, Kila White, Delano McNeal, LaTonya McNeal, Symphani McNeal, Ashanti McNeal, Sioni McNeal, Ky’Mani McNeal, all of Flint, Patrick McNeal, Jr. of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, Tatiana McNeal, Sierra McNeal, Kierra McNeal, Chyna McNeal, Matthew McNeal, London McNeal and N’dia McNeal, all of Flint; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Bethel Walley; brother, Eddie Rankin; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; sister-in-law, Theola (Major) Blackmon of Laurel, MS; 2 brothers-in-law, Ceaser (Johnnie) McNeil and Eddie (Gloria) McNeil, all of Flint. Mrs. McNeal was preceded in death by husband, William “Mack” McNeal; 2 daughters, Evelyn McNeal and Carolyn White; great-grandson, Michael McNeal; great-great-grandson, Gerquarie McNeal, Jr.; parents, Theodore and Everlean Rankin; 2 sisters, Ora Lee Glover and Pinkie Polk; 4 brothers, Wilbert, Harry, Robert and James Rankin. The family would like to express special thanks to McLaren-Flint Hospice, Fostorian Hospice, Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church family, Living Grace Community Fellowship Church family, friends and family.
