McGee, Mrs. Dorothy Mae - Age 86, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2023, at Landings of Genesee Valley. Family hour 10:30 AM Monday, June 26, 2023 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Pastor Allen C. Overton Sr., officiating. Interment Gracelawn Cemetery, 5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the chapel 10:30 AM Monday. Mrs. McGee will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Saturday. Dorothy Mae McGee, 86, of Flint, Michigan, passed away on June 18th, 2023, surrounded by her family and close friends. She was a kind and thoughtful soul who accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Metropolitan Baptist Tabernacle until she turned ill a few years ago. She will truly be missed and remembered by the many lives she touched. Dorothy was born November 8th, 1936 in Indianola, Mississippi, the daughter of Sammie Clark and Shed Jones. At an early age, Dorothy moved from Indianola to the Chicago, seeking a better life for her and her family. She later moved to Flint where she met and married the love of her life Milton Sr. in 1965. Dorothy was an employee of the Flint Community Schools, where she retired after over 43 years of faithful service. Upon her retirement, Dorothy was able to dedicate more of her time to her true passions: sewing and playing po*ke*no. Dorothy is survived by her son Milton McGee Jr. (Sericka) of Chesapeake, VA; 2 daughters, Donna Williams (Myers) of Indianapolis, IN, LaShonda Wells (Stacey) of Flint, MI; 2 brothers, Shelton (Gloria) Davidson of Flint, MI, Dewayne Prince of Port Huron, MI; sister, Diane Jones of Gainesville, FL; 2 grandchildren; Shontell Brown, Alexandria McGee; 6 great grandchildren; Keila Catlin, TaBari Griffin, Randall Johnson Jr., Zaniya Brown, Reginald Brown, Jordann Harris; 8 nieces; LaTonya Jones, Ericka Coleman, and Tiffany Davidson all of Flint, MI, Andrea Heller –Jackson of Detroit, MI, Julie Toney of Huntsville, AL, Abaca Green of Gainesville, FL, Sharon James and Gloria Chairs of Maywood, IL; 7 nephews; Anthony Jones, Terrance Jones, David Prince Jr. and Ronald Heller, all of Flint, MI, Roderick Jones of San Antonio, TX, and Charles Cotton of Maywood, IL; a host of other relatives and caring friends including Mrs. Hall, Mrs. Mitchell, and Ms. Drake. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Milton McGee Sr.; grandmother, Estella Clark; mother, Sammie Jones; 3 sisters; Angenella Heller, Delma Cotton, and Peggy Davidson-Coleman; 3 brothers; Judge Willie Jones, Laverne Sidney Davidson and David Prince; 2 nephews, Bryan Coleman and Gregory Heller. The family would like to thank the staffs of the Landings of Genesee Valley and Residential Home Health Care, Shayla Knight and Aleeyah Johnson who provided care for Dorothy prior to her death. We would also like to thank everyone for their support and prayers.
