McEWEN, Mrs. Dorothy - Age 75, passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:30AM Wednesday, October 1, 2008 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11AM, Eld. John Thornton officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30AM Wednesday. Mrs. McEwen will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Tuesday. Mrs. Dorothy Mae McEwen was born September 11, 1933 in Jackson, Tennessee, the daughter of Alonzie Adams and Maxine Adtkins. Dorothy was a resident of Flint, MI and a member of New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church. She was employed at Hurley Medical Center for 35 years and 7 months, where she enjoyed working with babies. Dorothy loved country music the family didn’t understand why and she couldn’t explain it. It was her enjoyable hobby along with crocheting beautiful afghans. She also did hand paintings on pillowcases. Dorothy was a loving, sweet, humble and forgiving person. She loved all children and always wanted peace with everyone no matter what it took. Mrs. Dorothy Mae McEwen leaves to cherish her memory: sister, Mary Louise Lynn of Flint; 5 nieces, Shirley Lynn of Flint, Kim (Joe) Peters of Sewanee, GA, Carol (Raymond) Peery of Flint, Evelyn Hightower of Reseda, and Belinda Johnson of Wesley Chapel, FL; 4 nephews, Kevin (Carolyn) Doan of Land-O Lake, FL, Tyrone (Wanda) Lynn of Auburn Hills, MI, David (Shalise) Doan of New Port News, VA and Terrence Lynn of Flint; a host of other relatives and friends including special relatives that called her “Aunt Dot” or “Dot Dot”, Venus, Iziah, Joshua and Yamon Brown, special friend and angel, Linda Wright. Mrs. McEwen was preceded in death by her mother, Maxine Eddy; father, Alonzie Adams. The family would like to express special thanks to Hurley Medical Center 9th floor hospice staff, Bishop Odis A. Floyd and New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church family, Usher Board II, and Eld. John Thornton.
