KIRKSEY, Mrs. Dorothy Ann - Age 64, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at University of Michigan Hospital, Ann Arbor, MI. Family hour 10:00 AM Thursday, February 28, 2019 at Metropolitan Baptist Tabernacle, 930 E. Myrtle Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM., Rev. Dr. Herbert Miller II, Host Pastor, Elder Kevin Crosby, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Thursday. Mrs. Kirksey will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM Wednesday. Mrs. Dorothy Ann Kirksey was born April 17, 1954 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Nannie Edna Love and John L. Lee. She was raised in Flint and attended Northern High School. Dorothy was a member of Metropolitan Baptist Tabernacle. She was active in school, volunteering for Title 1 and Milton Mays’ Scholarship Program. Dorothy loved singing, dancing, joking and laughing. She also loved to dress and was known as the Bid Whist Queen, if you ask her. Most of all Dorothy loved the Lord, reading her Bible and attending Bible Study. She enjoyed spending time with family, attending plays, comedy shows, and watching family play softball at Berston Field House. Mrs. Dorothy Ann Kirksey leaves to cherish her memory: husband, Jesse Kirksey Jr. of Flint; 2 daughters, LaTanya (Jason) Pickett of Leonard, MI and LaKeesha Underwood of Pontiac, MI; 3 sons, John (Regina) Lee of Byron Center, MI, Marcus Kirksey of Lansing, MI and Jemiah Lee of Flint; 3 step-children, Maurice (Shayla) Buckler of Grand Prairie, TX, Michele Buckler-Williams of Fort Wayne, IN, Stephan (Christine) Buckler of Flint and Erin Jackson of Davison, MI; 11 grandchildren, Javante Underwood, Jasmine Lee, Jordan Lee, Levi Lee, Kaidrian Biggs, Quavon Williams, Zavion Williams, De’Juan Buckler, Alayna Buckler, Keenan Buckler and Eron Jackson; great-grandson, Messiah Hunter; sister, Pamela Lee of Flint; brother, Michael Lee of Atlanta, GA; 7 nieces; 8 nephews; 2 aunts, Lina Hall and Barbara Bettis; uncle, Henry Love; 2 sisters-in-law, Ondria (James) Gillespie and Michele (Alvin) Parker, all of Flint; brother-in-law, Russell (Diane) Kirksey of Grand Blanc, MI; a host of other relatives and friends. Mrs. Kirksey was preceded in death by her mother, Nannie Edna Lee; father, John L. Lee; grandmother, Maggie Love; sister, Sherry Little; brother, Jerome Lee; niece, LaRhonda Gowdy; father and mother-in-law, Jesse and Rosetta Kirksey; and brother-in-law, David Kirksey.
