JACKSON, Mrs. Dorothy Lillian - Age 78, of Augusta, Georgia (formerly of Flint) passed away Sunday, October 21, 2007 in Augusta, Georgia. Family hour 10:30AM Saturday, October 27, 2007 at Metropolitan Baptist Tabernacle, 930 E. Myrtle Ave. with funeral service commencing at 11AM. Dr. A.J. Pointer officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30AM Saturday. Mrs. Jackson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 1PM-8PM Friday. Dorothy Lillian Jackson was born June 26, 1929 in Palling, New York to Leonard Wood and Margaret Horton. Dorothy was affectionally called "Ma" or "Dot" by her family and close friends. Dorothy graduated High School in Palling, NY. She moved to Flint in 1968 and began working for General Motors working in the Invoicing Department at Swartz Creek Servicing Parts, retiring in 1993. Prior to working at General Motors she worked for IBM in New York. She was a hard working dedicated woman who took pride in her performance. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling, playing bingo was one of her favorites. Dorothy also enjoyed family reunions and gatherings. Since her retirement she was also fond of her soap operas. Keeping up on soaps and you can?t forget Sunday Mornings Bobby Jones Gospel Show. She loved her pets, Ebony and Fred not only kept her busy, but also were her companions. She loved them both. Mrs. Dorothy Lillian Jackson leaves to mourn and cherish her memory: daughter, Sandra Jackson of Machesney Park, IL; son and daughter-in-law, Michael Oliver (Cindy Canty) of Augusta, GA; 3 granddaughters, Michelle Shaw of Cincinnati, OH, Tiffany McGee of Washington, DC and Faith Shaw of Flint; grandson, Kimani Jackson of Clio; 3 great-grandchildren, Mercedes Mariah, Dajour and Nyla McGee; adopted grandchildren, John, Santia and Pooter Canty of Augusta, GA; sister, Marie Karatz; brother, Levi Horton both of Fishkill, NY; a host of other relatives and friends including special friend, Roosevelt Robinson; best friends, Pat Clark, Elizabeth Owens and Ms. Pearl. Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by her husband, William Oliver; daughter, Carol Shaw; son, Alim Salaam Akbar; granddaughter, LaShawn Shaw; parents, Margaret Horton and Leonard Wood. The family would like to express special thanks to Lela McGee Johnson, all "The Girls" and Metropolitan Baptist Tabernacle.
