GREEN, Mrs. Dorothy Lee - Age 75, passed away Monday, March 20, 2017 at McLaren-Flint, Family hour 10:00 AM Monday, March 27, 2017 at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, 3020 Dupont St., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM, Pastor Kevin Thompson, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10:00 AM Monday. Mrs. Green will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed 10:00 AM-6:00 PM on Sunday. Mrs. Dorothy Lee Green was born June 18, 1941 in Brunswick, Georgia, the daughter of Agnes and Leroy Shaw. She left Brunswick in the early seventies and moved to Flint, Michigan. Dorothy was a member of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the Choir, served on the Mother’s Board and Mission. Mrs. Green was a graduate of Center High School in Waycross, GA. She received her CNA Certificate from Ross Medical School. Mrs. Green was employed at Kith Haven Skilled Nursing Facility as a Caregiver for several years. She loved Bingo and family get-togethers. Mrs. Green was a fashionista in her own right and was meticulous about her clothing. She also loved to write poems and was a wordsmith. She had a poem for every family life event. Mrs. Green was articulate, well-spoken and purposeful when writing her poems. Mrs. Dorothy Lee Green leaves to cherish her memory: 2 daughters, Carolyn Green of Brunswick, GA and Deborah Green of Brooklyn, NY; son, Darnell Green; grandchildren, Kimberly Green, both of Flint, Brandon Green of Texas, Shartisha Phipps, and Travell Maclin, both of Flint; great-grandchildren, Jayla Thompson, Jordan Thompson, both of Mt. Morris, MI and Kennedy Phipps of Flint; brothers, Willie James Shaw of Tampa, FL and Jimmy Shaw of Brunswick, GA; a host of nieces including special niece, Betty Jean Jarrett of Jacksonville, FL; a host of cousins including special cousin, Pearl Ward; god-children, Khyra, Kaleb, and Kenneth Robinson, all of Flint; sisters-in-law, Ida Mae Williams, Vera (Wardetha) McCall, Vergie Bennett, and Melvia Jean Green; brothers-in-law, Freddie Green, James Green, all of Baxley, GA and Dennis (Dorothy) Green of Douglas, GA; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Mr. Fletcher Davis, Mrs. Betty Jones, Mrs. Ruth Dabney, Mr. Raymond Dorsey, all of Flint, Mr. Herbert Dale Williamson of Grand Blanc, MI, Mrs. Ava (Robert) Walker, Fedville, NC. Mrs. Green was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Johnny Lee Green; grandchildren, Christian Davis and Jovon Thompson; mother, Agnes Shaw; father, Leroy Shaw; sister, Willie Mae Small; brothers, Arnstien Moody and Charlie Moody. The family would like to express special thanks to Hurley Medical Center staff, McLaren-Flint 6th Floor Critical Care Unit, Pastor Kevin L. Thompson and the St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church family.
