CRAIG, Mrs. Dorothy Mae - Age 84, passed away Sunday, February 6, 2011 at her residence. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 16, 2011 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11 a.m. Min. Sharon Riley officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Mrs. Craig will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 1-8 p.m. Tuesday. Mrs. Dorothy Mae “Dot” Shamburger Craig was born November 10, 1926 in Mobile, Alabama, the daughter of Maude A. Shamburger. Mrs. Craig was a resident of Flint, MI for 59 years. She received her Master Degree in Education from Eastern University in Ypsilanti, MI. Mrs. Craig worked for the Flint School System for 10 years and the Beecher School System for 28 years. She enjoyed cooking, music, holidays and family. Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Craig leaves to cherish her memory: 3 daughters, Harriett, Princess and Kristi Craig; 2 sons, Carlton III and Gary Craig; 8 grandchildren, Rhonda (Larry) Lott, Stephanie (John) McCauley, Steve (Constance) Washington, Shawn (Tunya) Washington, Kermit, Rashaunda, Shasta and Satoyia Craig; 23 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren, all of Flint; 2 sisters, (twin sister) Ethel Shamburger Harris and Lucille Knight and family, both of Mobile, AL; loving nieces and nephews, Mona J. (Torrence) Harris of Ft. Walton Beach, Proteone Samuels of Mobile, AL, Costro (Janice) Palmer of Tuscaloosa, AL, JoAnn Bonner of Chicago, IL, Ada Taylor, Enile and Sunny Knight, all of Mobile, AL and Erma Woods of Huntsville, AL; 2 great-nephews, Brian Samuels and Brandon Samuels, both of Mobile, AL; cousins, Theron (Marion) Mason, Pastor Sharon Riley and family, Collins family, Edwards family, Mario Craig Hollins and family and the Lewis family; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Barbara Pitts, the Bealore family, Mark (Linda) Fisher, Kim Higgins, Joyce (Sherman) Williams, Bettye Holmes and family, Kim Dunbar, Sallie Herring-French, Mary Herring and Betsy Evans. Mrs. Shamburger was preceded in death by her husband, Carlton Craig, Jr. and adopted mother, Maude A. Shamburger.
