CAMPBELL, Mrs. Dorothy Lee - Age 93, passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2026, in Detroit, MI. Family hour 10:00 AM Friday, January 23, 2026, at Foss Avenue Baptist Church, 1159 E. Foss Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Pastor Brian Frelix, officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, 9506 N. Dort Hwy, Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Friday. Mrs. Campbell will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Thursday. With deep love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Dorothy Lee Campbell, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished member of her community, who peacefully passed away at the age of 93 on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. Mrs. Dorothy Campbell was born on July 15, 1932, in Fairmont, North Carolina, to Ed Bethea and Annie L. Stevenson, Mrs. Campbell lived a life full of grace, resilience, and unwavering devotion to God and her family. She came of age during a time of profound change and carried with her the strength, wisdom, and dignity of a generation that endured much and gave even more. Family was the center of her world. She nurtured those she loved with warmth and faith, always offering encouragement, prayer, and a listening ear. Her home was a place of comfort, laughter, and where stories were shared, lessons were taught, and love was ever present. On March 13, 1952, Dorothy married her hometown love, Alexander Campbell. From this devoted union, two children were born, daughters Patricia Johnson (deceased) and Gloria Campbell. A woman of deep faith and character, Mrs. Dorothy Campbell contributed over 30 years of service before retiring from AC Spark Plug General Motors. She believed in kindness, hard work, and caring for others. She was known as a seamstress, clothing designer, gardener, teaologist, and nutritionist. Her life was a testament to perseverance, compassion, and love. Her lineage continues as she is survived: Brother, Cleveland Bethea (Winston- Salem, NC); Daughter, Gloria Campbell (Detroit, MI): Dr. Valerius Lindsey (Simi Valley, CA), Paulette Johnson (Lawrenceville, GA), Betty Riddle (Grand Rapids, MI), Anna Joe Blake (Flint, MI), and Renae Williams (Detroit, MI). Grandchildren, Stephanie Johnson (Washington, DC), Alexis Ruffin (Darnell, Flint, MI), Quynn Johnson (Capitol Heights, MD), Ngipiko Campbell-Mabins (Kerrie, Detroit, MI), Imanni Campbell- Mabins (Detroit, MI), Delonzo Aytes (Flint, MI), Kimberly Hamlet (Flint, MI), Christian Eagle (Lawrenceville, GA), Melvin Eagle (Flint, MI), and Darryl Clark (Detroit, MI). Great-grandchildren Ethan Hunt (Baton Rouge, LA), Elise Hunt (New York City) NY, Calah Ruffin (Flint, MI), Blake Ruffin (Flint, MI), Tyler Mead (Detroit, MI), Kennedi Campbell-Mabins (Detroit, MI), Emeri Ruffin (Flint, MI) and a host of extended family, friends, and loved ones who will forever treasure her memory. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Alexander Campbell; daughter, Patricia Johnson; mother, Annie L. Stevenson; father, Ed Bethea; and sisters, Annie Mae Baldwin, Mary Carpenter, and Shirley Evans. The family would like to express a special thanks to Dionna Pearson, Jesse Johnson, Ray and Grace Gatica. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the values she instilled, and the love she leaves behind. We take comfort in knowing that her life was long, meaningful, and well-lived. Special thank you to Dorothy Campbell’s devoted daughter, Gloria, who cared for her mother until God called Dorothy home.
