BURTON, Mrs. Dorothy Love - Age 70, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2006 at her residence. Family hour (per Mrs. Burton's request) 11AM-12Noon Friday, May 5, 2006 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. Mrs. Burton will then be taken to Brazzel-Cornish Mortuary, Hwy 371, Prescott, Arkansas, 71857 (870) 887-2644. Mrs. Burton will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Thursday. Mrs. Dorothy Love Burton was born October 14, 1935 in Prescott, Arkansas, the only daughter of Mr. Will N. and Mrs. Madie V. Greene. She united in Holy Matrimony to S.J. Burton, Sr. Dorothy had been a resident of Flint for the past 50 years. She was a faithful member of Vernon Chapel A.M.E. Church, for 44 years and upon the relocation of her membership in 2000, to the House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the kitchen committee. Dorothy was employed at World Wide Furniture Company, Phophet Food Company for 18 years, Smoke Rise Resort, NBD Bank, First Presbyterian Church, and the state of Michigan Regional Detention Center on West Pasadena retiring in 2000 after 10 years of service. She enjoyed family gatherings, cooking, bowling, traveling, casino runs, sitting on her porch, eating ice cream and playing cards with the Loving Seniors. Mrs. Dorothy Love Burton leaves to cherish her memory: 3 daughters, Jacqueline C. Williams, Sharon G. Tedford, Cherry D. Kelly-Hill (fiancÚ, Larry D. Stafford); son, S.J. Burton, Jr. (Ernestine Payton); grandchildren, Lemetha, Cheranitha, Donnie, Jr., Jacqueita, Nicole, Sharron and Antonio; 3 great grandchildren, Kevin, Jr., Cherrionna and Kahlon; the two women that she felt, were her own Elwanda Ray and Linda Smith; a host of other relatives and friends, including special friends Mrs. Frankie Lane, Leola Bridges, Joyce Davenport, Mary Jimerson and Greg D. Kelly. Mrs. Burton was preceded in death by her parents, Will N. Greene and Madie V. Greene. The family would like to express special thanks to their Pastor Kenneth L. Stewart, who they felt went far and beyond the call of duty. To God Be the Glory! Mrs. Dorothy Love Burton's giving and nurturing will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
