Mrs. Dorothy Jean Brock

BROCK, Mrs. Dorothy - Age 75, passed away Monday, December 4, 2017 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Refuge Temple Church of Flint, 4400 W. Carpenter Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Pastor Seon Thompson officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Saturday. Mrs. Brock will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 2:00 PM - 8:00 PM Friday with the family present from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM to receive friends. Mrs. Dorothy Jean (Huddleston) Brock was born September 26, 1942 in Decatur, Mississippi to loving parents Elbert and Vexie Huddleston. Dorothy was a resident of Flint, Michigan for 61 years where she briefly worked for Herrlich Drugstore and Meijer before finding employment with AC Spark Plug, (which later became Delphi), in 1979. Mrs. Brock had over 30 years with General Motors before retiring in 2014. Mrs. Dorothy was raised in church and received the gift of the Holy Ghost in her early 20’s. She was baptized years later at Bethlehem Temple Church of the Apostolic Faith. Mrs. Brock truly loved the Lord with all of her heart and attended Refuge Temple regularly. Mrs. Dorothy was the president of her block club. She took pride in her yard and the yard of her neighbors. She was not only involved in beautifying her neighborhood, but also the surrounding neighborhoods. Mrs. Dorothy Brock was a 16-year cancer survivor and participated in the yearly cancer walks downtown. Dorothy loved baking and was especially known for her Banana Pudding and 7 Up Pineapple Upside Down Cake. She also enjoyed traveling and shopping. Mrs. Dorothy was a lady of class and elegance. She was a loving mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She will be deeply missed, but she’ll forever live in our hearts. Mrs. Dorothy Jean Brock leaves to cherish her memory: son, Darrick Brock; 2 sisters, Cora Huddleston and Lexane Huddleston; 4 brothers, Elbert Huddleston, Jr., George (Betty) Huddleston, James (Gwen) Huddleston, all of Flint, and Jesse (Gloria) Huddleston of Ann Arbor; 10 nieces; 7 nephews; 2 aunts, Minnie Huddleston of Flint and Arletha Sanders of Bloomington, IL; special friends, Thelma Rogers, Jessica Adams and Etoyle Evans, and a host of many other loving friends. Mrs. Brock was preceded in death by mother, Vexie Huddleston; father, Elbert Huddleston; brother, Pastor Willie James Huddleston, and sisters-in-law, Clementine Huddleston and Naomi Huddleston.
