TERRY, Mrs. Doris Faye - Age 76, passed away Sunday, May 7, 2023 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:30 AM Friday, May 12, 2023 at Vernon Chapel AME Church, 5802 Dupont St., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Pastor Douglas Banks, officiating. Afterwhich, she will be taken to C.J. Williams Funeral Home, 124 S. Main St., Brinkley, AR 72021 (870) 589-5036. Interment Pilgrim Rest Cemetery. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 AM Friday. Mrs. Terry will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. Public visitation will be during family hour only. Mrs. Doris Faye Terry was born November 16, 1946 in Woodlawn, Arkansas, the daughter of Robert Jordan Sr. and Myrtle Mae Haynes. She attended Marian Anderson School. Doris was employed at Flint Truck & Bus, a division of General Motors Corporation, retiring with 25 years of service. Doris married her high school sweetheart, Leroy Terry in 1962. They were married for 46 years and from this union came 3 children, Anthony, Cheryl and Bryan. In 1964 the moved to Flint, Michigan. Doris accepted Christ at an early age where she attended First Baptist Church in Wheatley, AR. She continued to financially support First Baptist Church with various fundraisers an mission projects. With a real passion for life, Doris enjoyed fishing, nature and conversing with family and friends. She had a real love for gardening which was displayed in her colorful and beautiful flowers. Doris was affectionately known as “Granny”, “Gea” and “Grandma Terry” to her grandchildren. A true and classy lady who loved to dress and it showed in her unique and exceptional fashion style. Doris enjoyed traveling back to her home state of Arkansas to visit family and friends. Doris will forever be remembered for her kind, giving spirit and her unconditional loved. Although our hearts are heavy with grief, we will celebrate her life and know that her memories will forever dwell in our hearts. Mrs. Doris Faye Terry leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Cheryl (Harlan) Jackson of Flint, MI; granddaughters, Nakisha Booze of Houston, TX, Daysha (Will) Springer of Detroit, MI and Ariell Jackson of Flint; grandsons, Jordan Jackson of Chapel Hill, NC, Deoctay Terry of Texas and Octavius Terry of Flint; great-granddaughters, Samarie, Samaya an Samia Springer, all of Detroit, MI; great-grandson, James W. Gee of Houston, TX; sister, Lorraine (Bryant) Davis of Wheatley, AR; brother, Donald (Joyce) Jordan of Brinkley, AR; brother-in-law, Henry Washington of Wheatley, AR. Doris had relatives and friends she was especially close to, nephew, Antione Summers; niece, Keita Jordan; friends, Mattie Mister, Sabrina Mosley-Hughes, Areatha McKissick, Velma Smith, Rosie Mae Terry and Erma Walker; a host of other relatives and friends including her fur baby, Co-Co. Mrs. Terry was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Terry; sons, Anthony and Bryan Terry; parents, Robert Sr. and Myrtle Jordan; sister, Brenda Mae Summers and Joyce Marie Jordan; brothers, Norris Greer, Robert Jordan Jr. and Carl Jordan; grandmother, Alberta Lockett; fur baby, Meme; sisters-in-law, Beatrice Washington, Mildred Swanigan, Willie Mae Brown, Ruthie Frazier, Annarene Greer, and Pauletta Jordan; and special cousin, Dr. Wilbert Jordan.
