Mr. Donzell Ward

WARD, Mr. Donzell - Age 57, passed away Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at Genesys Health Park. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2013 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Rodney Murphey officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, 5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Mr. Ward will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 2-8 p.m. Friday with family present from 2-4 p.m. Mr. Donzell Ward was born July 14, 1955 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Carrie Mae Ward and Wade Brown. Donzell was a resident of Flint, Michigan, relocating to Flint at an early age. He attended Flint Public Schools, graduating from Flint Northwestern (Wildcats), “Class of 1974.” Donzell was employed by BOC Lake Orion until his health fell. He was a member of UAW Local 5960. Mr. Ward enjoyed spending time with his children, being hospitable to his many friends and just being COOL! He loved listening to music after a long week of working. Mr. Ward was known as a philosopher. He had many sayings which he used on a daily basis such as: “God don’t like ugly”, “Don’t let your right hand know, what your left hand is doing”, “You gotta keep some money in your pocket”, “Sho you right after he see’s you understand”, and “Nothing makes a problem but a problem.” Donzell was a man with a big heart and compassion for his fellow man. He leaves to cherish his memory: 4 children and 2 step children he loved with everything he had in him, Edward (Tiffany) Blair of Flint, Donnikka (Anthony) Davis-Hairston of Columbus, MS, Donzell (Maria) Ward II of Chattanooga, TN, Donshay Malaya Kenebrew, Keonya Wilson of Flint and Kennika (Kevin) Cobble of Columbus, MS; mothers of his children, Marcia Deloach of Columbus, MS, Loretta (Darwin) Kenebrew-Cox of Flint; 15 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. Ward was preceded in death by his loving sweet mother, Carrie Mae Ward; father, Wade Brown; grandparents, Burt and Bertha Ward; brother and sister-in-law, Larry (Brenda) Ward. The family of Mr. Donzell Ward would like to express a heartfelt thanks to the Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, Bob and Joan Doherty for being such wonderful human beings, Third Shift Nursing Supervisor of Genesys Health Park, The staff of Grand Blanc Rehabilitation Center, Pastor Rodney Murphy and the Victorious Word Church family. Most of all, we thank God for the life of Mr. Donzell Ward and his legacy which will live on through his seeds.
