Donner Banks

BANKS, Mr. Donner Ray - Age 58, passed away Saturday, February 17, 2007 at his residence. Family hour 10AM Friday, February 23, 2007 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11AM. Pastor Harry Campbell officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10AM Friday. Mr. Banks will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Thursday. Mr. Donner Ray Banks was born October 14, 1948 in Altheimer, Arkansas, the youngest of nine children to William and Mintlean Banks. Arriving in Flint, Michigan after graduating from high school in Arkansas, Mr. Donner Ray Banks joined seven siblings with the exception of one living in Chicago. He began working at the Old Buick's Foundry and became a UAW Local 599 member. Donner started working for Meijers in 1976 and after 30 years of service and being a member of UFCW Local 951, he retired. Mr. Donner Ray Banks enjoyed talking to family and friends everyday about sports and local happenings. He went to Kroger daily to talk to friends (employees) that worked in the store, pharmacy, and Bank. Mr. Donner Ray Banks leaves to cherish his life: caring and devoted wife, Mildred; four sisters, Arlene (Johnnie) Collins of Nashville, TN, Eddie McCord of Grand Rapids, MI, Bobbie (Clarence) Flowers and Betty Banks; one brother, W.T. (Audrey) Banks all of Flint; father and mother-in-law, Robert and Tomie Mae Crawford; one sister-in-law, Brenda Burns all of Flint; one brother-in-law, Robert (Pamela) Crawford, Jr. of Ohio; one uncle, Robert Banks of Flint; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins including, Pat Burton of Flint, Vergie, Jean and Ruth of Pasadena, CA; special friends, Delores and Shelton Jones of Grand Blanc, and Warren Burns of Mt. Morris; special adopted god-children, Shelton, Tiffany and David Jones. Mr. Donner Banks was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mintlean Banks; sister and brother-in-law, Catherine and Green Wedlow; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Bernice Banks; brother, Mack Banks. The Banks family would like to thank everyone for all cards, letters, flowers and acts of kindness during their time of bereavement.
