STEWART, Mr. Donald - Age 72, passed away Thursday, December 25, 2025 at his residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Thursday, January 8, 2026, from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Rev. George Hodges, officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, 9506 N. Dort Hwy, Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:00 AM Thursday. Mr. Stewart will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Wednesday. Donald Kevin Stewart was born on December 23, 1953, in Flint, Michigan, to Oliver and Lueanne Stewart. He was the eldest of five children, blessed with three brothers and two sisters. Donald attended Beecher High School, where he was affectionately known as “Donnie.” He played football, ran track, and formed lifelong friendships and memories. Though he was soft-spoken and shy, Donnie carried a joyful spirit and was often at the center of laughter, playful mischief, and unforgettable moments. He also shared a special and lifelong bond with his high-school sweetheart, Carolyn (Coburn) Stewart. In addition to being naturally athletic, Donald was intelligent and curious. He loved reading and was known for his beautiful left-handed penmanship. After graduating from Beecher High School, he continued his education at Mott Community College, pursuing studies in education. He later chose to serve his country in the United States Air Force, where he received an Honorable Discharge. In 1973, Donald married his high-school sweetheart, Carolyn, and together they returned home to build a loving life and family. He went on to work for Delphi Automotive in Saginaw, MI, where he faithfully served for 30 years until his retirement in 2007. Donald inherited his love of plants and landscaping from his mother. He cherished summer days spent gardening with music playing and his children nearby. He also enjoyed fishing, then lovingly preparing what he caught and grilling for family gatherings and holidays, moments that brought him great joy. Mr. Donald K. Stewart leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife of 53 years, Carolyn Stewart of Grand Blanc, MI; and three daughters of whom he was very proud: Lashawn Stewart, Valencia (Demetrius) Washington, and Kquaisha Stewart. He is also cherished by his grandchildren: Shaniqua Lee (Peaches), Tiana Stewart “TT”, Jamileon Johnson, Jibril Stewart, and Jaleel Stewart; and great-grandchildren who brought him great joy, Jerlous Marve Jr., A’Nylah Marve, and Demetrius Washington. He also leaves his loving sisters, Beverly Stewart and Olivia Jones; his brothers, Bruce Stewart, James Stewart; along with nieces who dearly loved him: Briana Adams, Lakisha Duffie, Danielle Duffie, and Dominika Grant. Donald now rests in God’s eternal care with his parents, Oliver and Lueanne Stewart, and his youngest brother, Michael Stewart. He peacefully transitioned on Christmas afternoon, surrounded by his loving family, on a day that was not only holy, but his favorite holiday.
