ROBBINS, Mr. Donald Allen - Age 82, passed away Monday, October 6, 2008 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Family hour 1:30PM Saturday, October 11, 2008 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 2:30PM, Pastor Theodore Jones officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home 1:30PM Saturday. Mr. Robbins will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Friday. Mr. Donald “Don” Allen Robbins was born September 23, 1926 in Flint, MI, the son of Robert and Edna Robbins. Donald graduated valedictorian from Central High School “Class of 1944”. After high school he went into the United States Navy serving in WWII four years. In 1950 he was hired in General Motors Fisher Body Shop, where he worked faithfully in the cushion room for 30 years. After retiring in 1980, Donald spent most of his time at his cabin in Idlewild, MI, where he enjoyed boating and fishing. In 2005 he married his long time friend of 40 years, Sandra Smith-Robbins and they shared 5 wonderful years together. He leaves to cherish his memory: devoted and faithful wife, Sandra Smith-Robbins; stepdaughter, Deneshia Smith; god daughter, Cathryn Sanders, all of Flint; granddaughter, Azzari Thompson of Columbus, OH; 2 nieces, Edna (Ken) Washington of Rochester Hills, MI and Valerie Anderson of Detroit, MI; aunt, Gerldine Williams of Detroit, MI; 2 sisters-in-law, Angel Jones (Autrey Thompson) of Columbus, OH and Darlyn Jones of Flint; brother-in-law, Marvin Jones of Flint; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Charels and Charlotte Williams, the Hopson family, 9 nieces and nephews and Charlene McGlory. Mr. Robbins was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Edna Robbins; brothers, Robert and Edward Robbins; grandparents, Edward and Izora Williams; uncle, Ellsworth Williams; great nephew, Markis Washington; sister-in-law, Beryl Robbins. The family would like to express special thanks to Mary Reico, Debbie Strickland, Rock Missionary Baptist Church family, nurse, Sheri Richard at McLaren Regional Medical Center, family and friends.
