Dixie Moore-Forte

MOORE-FORTE, Mrs. Dixie D. - Age 63, passed away Thursday, April 12, 2011 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10 a.m. Monday, April 18, 2011 at Ebenezer Ministries, 2130 S. Center. Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Min. Harry Prince officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Monday. Mrs. Forte will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. Ms. Dixie Dianella Moore-Forte was the first born to Ivy and Dianella Laverne Moore on November 1, 1947 in Noxapater, Mississippi. Dixie accepted Christ at an early age at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church #2 in Noxapater, MS. Dixie attended Flint Public Schools. She retired as Postmaster from the United States Post Office after 37 years of service. Dixie was a member of Ebenezer Ministries, where she served on the Missionary Society. Her favorite song was “I Won’t Complain.” Ms. Dixie D. Moore-Forte leaves to cherish her memory: Mother, Dianella Laverne Moore; special long time companion, Henry H. Milow; 3 sons, Ivan Moore, Cory (Karima, fiancée) Moore, of Flint and Marcus Stribling of Indiana; 13 grandchildren, Ivan, Jr., J’Kobe, Kennedy, Rachel, Shawn’vea, Cory, SiToya, LaCory, Sasha, Markenna, DeRondre, Yakira and Kyra; 9 great-grandchildren, Jeremiah, Rondal, Jhordyn, Montaja, Montajvia, Dequwan, Ei’Marri, Cori, Luren; 2 sisters, Barbara (Percy) Moore, JoEllen (Lucian) Adams, of Flint; 2 brothers, Bryan Moore of North Carolina, Jadie Moore of Flint; 3 aunts, Maureen Wooten of Missouri, Quarteen Paige of Illinois and Mary Shields of Mississippi; 3 uncles, Mack (Mattie) McCann of North Carolina, Wayne (Jean) McCann of Mississippi and John (Inez) McCann of Flint; 4 nieces, Marcia (Cee Cee) McQueen, Cassandra Moore-Jackson of Flint, Ashley (Anthony) Green of Lansing and Brittney Moore of Pennsylvania; 2 nephews, Anthony (Kathy) Hamm of Maryland, Percy (Tammy) Jackson, III; and a host of other relatives and friends. Ms. Moore-Forte was preceded in death by her son, infant Baby Stribling; father, Ivy Moore; grandparents, Howard (Roberta) McCann and Jadie (Eddie) Moore. Dixie leaves behind several special relationships who will always remember her lively spirit, Kimberly Moore, cousin, Judith Lyons, Dorothy Gooley, Inez Goodman, Annette Moore, Sophia Singleton and Lerlean Campbell. The family wishes to express a special thank you to Bishop Urundi B. Knox and First Lady Michelle Knox and the Ebenezer Ministries Family, the Senior Usher Board and Missionary Society, Dr. Thomas and Hurley Medical Center ICU staff.
