Mrs. Diane Rawls

RAWLS, Mrs. Diane - Age 65, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at her residence. Family hour 12 p.m. Monday, March 28, 2016 at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, 2120 N. Saginaw St., with funeral service commencing at 1 p.m. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 12 p.m. Monday. Mrs. Rawls will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Sunday. Ms. Diane (Richmond) Rawls was born June 30, 1950 in Cordova, Tennessee, the daughter of Walter and Maragree Richmond. She was a resident of Flint, Michigan. Diane graduated from Flint Northern High School “Class of 1968.” She was employed as a Teachers Aid with the Flint Community School System. Diane retired from Roy Wilkins Elementary School with over 30 years of dedicated service. She absolutely loved to help children learn. When Diane was not on Foss Avenue you knew she was at the casino playing those slot machines. Sunday was her day to watch her grandson play football. She also loved gardening and spending time with family and friends getting her shopping fix on at the Goodwill. Diane lived life to the fullest and for the she will be always remembered. Ms. Diane (Richmond) Rawls leaves to cherish her memory: father of her children, Thomas Rawls; 3 sons, Thomas Rawls, Derrin (LaDeana) Rawls and Erskine (Tiara) Rawls, all of Flint;14 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Barbara Richmond, Sabrina Richmond, both of Flint and Delores Briggs of Memphis, TN; 4 brothers, Sylvester (Vernamae) Richmond, Dennis (Rose) Richmond, all of Flint, Ronnie (Patricia) Richmond of Nashville, TN and Rudy Richmond of Antioch, TN; a host of nieces and nephews; 3 aunts, Lillie B. Small, Viola Hunt and Mattie Robinson, all of Memphis, TN; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Patricia Decker, Gloria Hines, Felicia Bolden, Dedra Whitley, Elder Sophronia Fowlkes, Veronica Thompson, the Reid and Dayton Ave. families. Ms. Rawls was preceded in death by her daughter, Valorie Richmond; parents, Walter and Margaree Richmond; sisters, Carolyn, Rosie and Sandra Richmond; brothers, Walter Jr. and Keith Richmond; step-brother, Talmon Long; aunt, Lillian Richmond.
