Mr. Derrick Broady

BROADY, Mr. Derrick - Age 60, passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Heartland Hospice. Family hour 10 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 2015 at New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church, 1035 E. Carpenter Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Elder Patrick Sanders Sr. officiating. Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, 5175 E. Bristol Rd., Burton, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Saturday. Mr. Broady will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 2 p.m. - 8 p.m. Friday. Mr. Derrick William Broady was born August 3, 1954, in Flint Michigan, the son of Kermit and Marian Broady. He was a member of New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church. Derrick graduated from Flint North Western High School, “Class of 1972” and attended Mott Community College. Derrick overcame many disabilities to live an independent life. He will be missed by many. Mr. Derrick William Broady leaves to cherish his memory: 2 sisters, Diane (Earl) James of Mt. Morris, MI and Donna Brach of Texas; step-brother, Bruce Williams; nieces, Meketta (FA), Gavina (Kyle) Cochran, all of Flint, Marian Broady of Detroit, MI, Savannah Hendrickson of Seattle, WA; special nieces, Elizabeth James and Nina James; nephews, Wardell (Loraina) Hodo and Desmond Hodo, all of Flint; 4 great-nieces; 8 great-nephews; aunts, Mrs. Barbara Richardson, Mrs. Margaret Heller-Rushing and Sharon Rushing, all of Flint; uncles, Robert (Brenda) Rushing of Mt. Morris, MI, Dennis (Linda) Rushing of Flint and Coberg (Linda) Rushing of Seattle, WA; brother-in-law, Earl James; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Delia Noakes, Dalishea Noakes, Hudie Langston, Kenneth Pringle and Oak Street Apartments. Mr. Broady was preceded in death by his parents, Kermit and Marian Broady; step-mother, Gracie Broady; grandparents, Williams (Jessie) Broady, Sam (Willie Mae) Rushing; brothers, Dana W. Broady and twin-brother, Dale W. Broady.
