Mr. Deontae Renard Blackmon

BLACKMON, Mr. Deonta Renard - Age 32, passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 28, at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, 1258 E. Humphrey, with funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Terry Randolph, officiating. Inter ment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10:30 a.m. Monday. Mr. Blackmon will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home., 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Sunday. Mr. Deonta’ Renard Blackmon was born on June 26, 1981 in Flint, MI, the son of Durenda Blackmon and Jeffrey McCord. Deonta attended the Flint Public Schools and received his GED in 2005. He was baptized at the age of 7 and then again at the age of 14 at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, in which he was actively involved. Deonta’ loved to spend time with his children and family. He loved to travel, shop, and laugh and strived to be the best he could be. He enjoyed music (especially) old school and slow jams). He loved entertainment; hosting and promoting special events throughout the city. Mr. Deonta’ Renard Blackmon leaves to cherish his memory: special friend and mother of his unborn child, Jenaa “Pooty” Edmond; son, Malik Yearby; daughter, Dy’Ashiah Blackmon; mother, Duranda Blackmon; grandparents, Odessa “Dee”, Caroline Blackmon and Eddie Mae McCord; God-mother, Esther Mitchell; 2 sisters, Jaleesa Blackmon and Jalayiah Carter; 6 brothers, Demario, Eric, Derek, Jarrod and Gerald Blackmon and Demarcus Walker; niece, Sole’ Blackmon; 5 nephews, Marcello Youngblood, Simyon Roberts, Durod Stover, Jr., Deonte’ Stover and Gerald Blackmon Jr.; 4 uncles, William, Gregory, Frederick and Major Blackmon; 4 aunts, Margaret, Seales, Cassandra McCord-Garcia of Grand Rapids, MI; Doris Bailey of Bowling Green, KY and Bridget Smith of Muscle Schools, AL; a host of cousins including special cousins, Omar Hull (his big brother), Crystal Seales- Wilturner, Alexis Seales Abbott, William “Shanta” Jones, Major Blackmon, Stephon Allison of Bloomington, IL, Alisha Bradley, Shaquandra Jamison, Quan Blackmon, Allen “A.V.” Seales and Sherwood “Woody” Pea III, mother of his son, Sherika Yearby, mother of his daughter, Monique Sims; 5 great aunts; 2 great uncles; a host of other relatives and friends, including special friends, Duke, Dave, Boaz, Sharky, Ace and Onquette “Snoop” Woodyard. Mr. Deonta’ Renard Blackmon was preceded in death by his father, Jeffrey McCord; grandfather, James McCord; great-grandparents; uncles, Terrence and Randle McCord; 1 great-uncle, Melvin McCord; and best friend, Kenyaka Hull. The family would like to express special thanks to the Hurley Medical Center Neuro ICU Team; all family and friends that expressed their love for Deonta’ and Pastor Terry Randolph and the Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church family.
