Mr. Dentson Buggs

BUGGS, Mr. Dentson - Age 91, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2017 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at New Zion Baptist Church, 1601 Chippewa St., with funeral service commencing at 11:30 AM. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11:00 AM Tuesday. Mr. Buggs will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-8:00 PM Monday. Mr. Dentson Buggs was born May 6, 1926 in Homer, Louisiana, the son of Claudie Hayes and Jessie Buggs. He met and married his wife of over 70 years, Hattie Mae Buggs and together they formed an unbreakable bond. Mr. Buggs served in the United States Army and was Honorably Discharged. Mr. and Mrs. Buggs relocated to Flint, Michigan in 1950. From this blessing, 16 children were born and from those children, many grand-children and great-grandchildren, will go on to continue the legacy that Dentson and Hattie Mae have started. He was a proud parent and loved to take family road trips, tell jokes, fish, eat, watch Western movies and political programs. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. He was a gentle giant, and never had a bad thing to say about anyone. Mr. Buggs was employed at AC Spark Plug, a division of General Motors Corporation for 33.3 years, and was also a member of UAW Local #651 until he retired in 1986. Dentson accepted Christ in his life and was a proud and faithful member of New Zion Baptist Church, under the direction of Pastor Jacob Hawkins Jr. Mr. Dentson Buggs leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Mrs. Hattie Mae Buggs; 3 daughters, Deborah (Harold) Peterson of Flint, Linda Milow of Frederick, Maryland and Doris Buggs; 6 sons, James Williams, Curtis Buggs, Robert (Terry Garrett) Buggs, Ricky (Montré) Buggs, Jessie Buggs and Lonnie Buggs, all of Flint; a host of grandchildren including special granddaughter, Tamika (Kevin) Mack; a host of great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Javan (Canary) Buggs of California and Morris Buggs of Dallas, TX; a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. Buggs was preceded in death by 4 daughters, Mildred Buggs, Eleanor Buggs, Betty Buggs and Francis Holmes; 3 sons, Ronald Buggs, Franklin Buggs and Dentson Ray Hamilton; 4 grandchildren; parents, Claudie Hayes and Jessie Buggs; 3 sisters and 3 brothers.
