Mr. Dennis Ray Carrington

CARRINGTON, Mr. Dennis Ray - Age 54, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 5, 2013 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11a.m. Rev. Willie Townsend, officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:00 a.m. Tuesday. Mr. Carrington will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12 noon-8 p.m. Monday. Mr. Dennis Ray “The Smart Man” Carrington was born January 22, 1959 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, the son of Willie A. Carrington and Bertha L. Carrington Jones. He was a graduate of Northwestern High School and was employed as a mechanic and bump and paint worker. Dennis loved music, fishing, talking on the CB, mechanic work, bump and paint work and spending time with his mother, family and friends. He was a devoted father and grandfather who loved playing with his grandchildren. Mr. Dennis Ray Carrington leaves to cherish his memories: wife, Brenda Lee Carrington; 2 daughters, LaTasha Carrington and Sharae Carrington; son, Dennis Carrington Jr., all of Flint; grandchildren, Tashara Maynard and Amaya Carrington both of Flint; mother, Bertha Lee Carrington Jones; 4 sisters, Willene Carrington and Vertise Carrington, both of Flint; Qwen Carrington and Jackie Carrington both of Warren, AR; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; aunts, Lucy Warford, Cozetta (Joe Nathan) Dodds; sisters-in-law, Augusta Harris, Clidiene (Jackie) Robinson, Thelma (Lyle) Holley and Ruthann Maynard; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, black hammer, Tim Mathis, Willie Porter, BB and Robert Clark. Mr. Carrington was preceded in death by his father, Willie Carrington; sister, Brenda F. Carrington; step-father, John Jones; mother and father-in-law, Queen Maynard and Rutherford Maynard; grandparents and big daddy, Archie B. Trotter. The family would like to express special thanks to Hurley Medical Center, Pastor Donald Hughes and Austin Avenue Baptist Church Family; Pastor Willie C. Towner and United Missionary Baptist Church Family.
