COOK, Mrs. Deirdre "Dee Dee" - Age 52, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:00 AM Friday, February 21, 2025 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Pastor Eddie Bryant., officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the chapel 10:00 AM Friday, February 21, 2025. Mrs. Cook will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral and may be viewed Thursday, February 20, 2025 from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Deirdre Reneka Cook, affectionately known as “Dee Dee” was born December 30, 1972 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Maria Louise Cook and Michael Dean. “Dee Dee” was a resident of Flint. She spent her childhood growing up in the Beecher Community, graduating from Flint Beecher High School, “Class of 1992.” It was there she met most of her childhood friends who also became her family. “Dee Dee” was employed 8 years at Lahser Pre Vocational Center in Clarkston, MI, where she cared for the mentally and physically disabled. She enjoyed caring or her fur babies, Snickers and Honey, and most recently, Daddy-O. “Dee Dee” enjoyed spending time with her 2 daughters, Deneika and Teonia, her family and friends. She enjoyed playing games on her phone and watching crime shows on TV. “Dee Dee” also enjoyed singing, dancing and listening to music; especially her favorite, Tennessee Whiskey, by Chris Stapleton. She enjoyed life; and it showed with her electric smile and the joy she brought to others. Deirdre Reneka Cook leaves to cherish her memory: fiancé, Londale Ross; 2 daughters, Deneika (Je’Rielle) Booth and Teonia Ross; 7 grandchildren, Je’Rielle “RJ” Jr., JaLeah, Terence III, Tristan, Journee, Tylan and Jream; mother, Maria Louise Williams, all of Flint; brother, Michael (Tonya) Moore of Portage, MI; 4 sisters, Angelic (Andre) Longmire of Covington, GA, Octavia Cook of Burton, MI, Nakia Clark and Kimta Dodds, both of Flint; 6 nieces, Lonyelle, LaQuisha, Marica, Andrena, Bentavia and America; 8 nephews, Andre II, Myles, Malkolm, Henry III, Devon’tre, Jafari, Amer and DonQuayvis; a host of great-nieces and nephews; 3 aunts, LuBerta McDonald of Smyrna, GA, Rebecca (David) Carter of Saginaw, MI and Betty (LeRoy) Smith of Flint; a host of cousins including special cousin, Michael Thomas; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Katrece “Kay-Kay”, Tracie, Saunquina, Phyllis and Tyrone, all of Flint and Siobhan of Clarkston, MI. Deirdre was preceded in death by her father, Michael Dean; grandparents, Wilma Jean Cook, Fletcher Dean and Alice “Sug” Dean; baby sister, DonNesha “Pooh-Pooh” Williams; 4 aunts; 3 uncles; and special friend, Jimmie Birt Jr. The family would like to express special thanks to McLaren-Flint 6th Floor CCU, 11th Floor Hospice Team, and McLaren Hospitality House; cousin, Allen Sanders and Minister Edward Bryant and all who prayed with them and for them during this troubling time.
