Debra Wilbanks

WILBANKS, Ms. Debra Sue - Age 47, passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 11AM Friday, May 19, 2006 at Church of Trinity, 421 E. 12th St., with the funeral service commencing immediately at 12Noon. Bishop Rosal McFadden officiating. Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, G-5175 E. Bristol Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11AM Friday. Ms. Wilbanks will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Thursday. Ms. Debra Sue Wilbanks was born on December 24, 1958 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Vernon and Helen Wilbanks. Debra was a very wonderful and special person who was full of life. She was also a great loving mother and grandmother to all of her grandkids including her special granddaughter, Tayaka Wallace. In her own was, Debra was a wonderful diva who loved shopping and was never seen in anything twice. Ms. Wilbanks was a wonderful diva in her own way. She taught her children that "they were all they had, and to stay together as one." Debra was a child of God, saved and filled with the Holy Spirit and was a member of Church of Trinity Pentecostal. Her battle with dialysis lasted a strong seven years. Ms. Debra Sue Wilbanks leaves to cherish her memory: 3 beautiful children: 2 daughters, Chaka and Tanika Wilbanks; son, Douglas Coleman III; stepdaughter, Gevetta Cain; 5 grandchildren, Tayaka and Talaka Wallace, Talaya Debra Sue Wilbanks, Tonorya and Rory Matthews; 2 brothers, Anthony (Sabrina) and Willie (Barbara) Wilbanks; 7 nieces; 4 nephews; a host of aunts, uncles and cousins including special cousin, Brenda Knox; special friends including: number one daughter, Chaka Wilbanks, Ellen Thomas Ward, Rotha Hermon, Michelle Coleman, Connie Spicer, Mrs. Moore, Lula Donaldson, Jennifer Hudson and Karla Purifoy. Ms. Wilbanks was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Helen Wilbanks; sister, Barbara Wilbanks. The family would like to express special thanks to the Davita Dialysis staff, the Church of Trinity Pentecostal family, and Douglas, "thank you for holding momma's hand all the way through 'til she was finally at peace."
