JAMES, Mrs. Debra "D.J." - age 60, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2014 at University Hospital-Augusta, GA. Family hour 10 a.m. Monday, May 12, 2014 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Danyiel Griffin officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10 a.m. Monday. Mrs. James will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. Mrs. Debra Joyce (Morris) James a.k.a. “DJ” was born May 27, 1953 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Christine Bowen and John P. Parris. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by Pastor Danyiel Griffin. Debra was a member of El Bethel Missionary Baptist Church and later joined Beulah Grove Church, Pastor Sam Davis in Augusta, GA. “DJ” had a very lively spirit; she enjoyed spending time and having fun with family and friends, especially with her children and grandchildren. She had a great love for music, fishing, laughing, and shopping. “DJ” was a very kind-hearted and always giving of her time until her death. Debra was very intelligent person. She graduated from Cody High School in Detroit, MI and attended Wayne State Community College. Mrs. Debra Joyce James leaves to cherish her memory: 4 daughters, Kimberly (Jerry) Morris of Indianapolis, IN, Karyn (Anthony) Webster of Flint, Kara (Leodis) Morris of Augusta, GA and Katrice Morris of Copperas Cove, TX; 2 sons, Harold (Keita) James of Augusta, GA and Darryl Morris of Indianapolis, IN; step-daughter, Sonia Wright; special granddaughter, Miah Morris of Augusta, GA; sister, Demetria (Philip) Howard of Augusta, GA; brother, David (Carol) Morris of Worcester, MA; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, Joyce Sears of Indianapolis, IN and Geraldine Green of Mississippi. Mrs. James was preceded in death by her husband, Harold James, Sr.; daughter, Keli Morris; grandson, Michael Young; mother, Christine Bowen; mother-in-law, Thelma Jean Jackson; a host of many more.
