Mrs. Deborah Odette Pierce

PIERCE, Mrs. Deborah Odette - Age 74, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2022 at her residence. Family hour 10:30 AM Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church, 3502 Lapeer Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Rev. Rabon Turner, officiating. Interment Evergreen Cemetery, 3415 Hill Rd., Grand Blanc, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 AM Saturday. Mrs. Pierce will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Friday. Mrs. Deborah Odette (Reese) Pierce was born into this world on June 26th 1948 in Clio, Michigan, the daughter of David L. and Dorothy L. Reese. Deborah was a resident of Clio where she attended and graduated from Clio High School in June of 1966. She furthered her education and attended Michigan State University earning a Bachelor Degree and later on in her life, Deborah attended Marygrove College earning a Master Degree in Education. On June 30th 1973, She married the man of her life, Marvin Louis Pierce. On March 6th 1978, Deborah gave birth to Steven her only child. She attended Spirit of Power and Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church. The Pierce family became members of Grace Emmanuel on October 3rd 1993. Deborah was an Educator with the Clio Public Schools from 1970 to 2010. During her 40-year career of Professionalism as an Educator, Deborah taught kindergarten and second grade. She was dedicated to excellence in the classroom and attended several workshops a year until her retirement in 2010. Deborah enjoyed traveling with her husband and family. She was a social butterfly during family reunions and events. Deborah enjoyed dressing up and considered herself a fashion diva. She had Landscaping ideas as she would often have a to-do list for her husband to complete. Gardening and decorating the backyard every spring/ summer was a must. Deborah also enjoyed decorating her home during the Christmas holidays. In the later years of her life, her son Steven introduced two special people into Deborah's life, Tiffany Underwood along with her daughter, Taylor Roper. The three of them went on many special outings. Deborah loved the Lord, her family, and will be sorely missed by so many. Mrs. Deborah Reese Pierce leaves to cherish her memory: husband of 49 years, Marvin Pierce of Burton, MI; son, Steven Pierce (Tiffany Underwood); granddaughter, Taylor Roper; sister, Joanne Reese (David W.) Smith; aunt, Joan Petrill; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Pierce was preceded in death by her parents, David L. and Dorothy L. Reese; brothers, David and James Reese. The family would like to express a special acknowledgment to family friend, Minister Duane Kelley-Associate Minister at Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church and my church family who have been by my side throughout these trying times
