Ms. Deborah Ann Jefferson

JEFFERSON, Ms. Deborah Ann - Age 64, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2017 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, March 4, 2017 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM, Pastor Theodore Jones officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:00 AM Saturday. Ms. Jefferson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 1:00 PM - 8:00 PM Friday. Deborah Ann Jefferson, daughter of Edna and Ozell Walker, was born on January 31, 1953 in St. Louis, Missouri. The family moved to Flint, Michigan in the late fifties where Deborah attended Flint Public Schools, graduating from Flint Northwestern High School, “Class of 1971.” Deborah was proud to be a Wildcat and loved planning and participating in her class reunions. After high school she attended University of Michigan-Flint Campus and was an avid Maize and Blue fan. Deborah was baptized at an early age accepting Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She attended Golden Leaf Baptist Church as a child and young adult where she served as Church Secretary. More recently she united with Rock Missionary Baptist Church where she enjoyed attending Bible study. Deborah was a beautiful person who loved her family deeply and cherished her friends immensely. Her favorite times were big gatherings with family and friends, the door to her home was always open and everyone was welcomed. Her hobbies included gardening, cooking and baking, and holiday decorating that earned her the nickname the black Martha Stewart. Deborah’s two greatest passions in life were for children and helping people. Every child that came into her life was well loved by her, starting first with all her younger siblings and extending throughout her life to the many children that crossed her path, down to own her children whom she adored, especially son Morrie. Through her many years of employment with Michigan National Bank God inspired Deborah to be a blessing to churches, numerous individuals, community outreach services, including Odyssey House where she also worked, and other small businesses. In addition, Deborah served on many boards throughout the Flint and Genesee County area. Deborah’s gift of helping others was always done without seeking personal recognition, giving God all the glory. On Saturday February 25, 2017 after a long illness and a well fought battle, Deborah departed this life peacefully into the arms of the Lord with her family by her bedside. She was loved by many and will be missed greatly. In God’s care Deborah leaves the love of her life of 41 years, Robert James Hines; sons, Morrie Anthony Hines of Little Rock, AR and Daquiri Sr. (Keisha) Hines; mother, Edna Walker, all of Flint; grandchildren including, Montez Hines of Flint, Malik Hines of Chicago, IL, Kayson Hines of Little Rock, AR and Daquiri Hines Jr. of Houston, TX; sisters, Margaret Walker of Dallas, TX and Jackie Walker of Lansing, MI; brothers, Michael (Cynthia) Walker of Southfield, MI and Jeffrey (Kim) Walker of Dallas, TX; nieces, Mallory Walker and Brandyn Walker, both of Southfield MI and Kylie Walker of Dallas, TX; nephews, Mychal C. Walker Sr. of Lansing, MI and Evan Walker of Dallas, TX; great-nephews, Mychal C. Walker Jr., MaKye A. Walker and Mason A. Walker, all of Lansing, MI; sisters-in-love, Margaret Martin and Earnestine Sims; brother-in-love, Billy Hines, all of Flint; a host of other relatives and friends, including cousin, Jeanne Townsend and very special friends, Alice Lincoln, Hattie Moore and Monita Anderson. Deborah was preceded in death by her father, Ozell Walker.
