ROBINSON, Deacon Willie A. - Age 86 passed away Sunday, September 18, 2011 at Brian's House. Family hour 11 a.m. Monday, September 26, 2011 at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 1083 E. Stewart Ave., with funeral service commencing at 12Noon. Pastor Lewis Randolph officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11 a.m. Monday. Deacon Robinson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. Deacon Willie A. Robinson was born September 24, 1924 in Rison, Arkansas, the son of Dudley Robinson and Willie Shuler. Deacon Robinson united with Lydia Butler in 1957 in Flint. He was a dedicated husband and father; raising 2 sons, Ronnie and William Robinson. Deacon Robinson became a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor L.W. Pryor, where he served faithfully on the Deacon’s Board, Security, and Laymens Ministries. Deacon Robinson retired from A.C. Spark Plug, a division of General Motors with over 30 years of service and was a member of UAW Local 651. He showed tremendous courage and strength and always gave of himself unselfishly. Deacon Robinson loved his family and dear friends. He leaves to cherish his memory: 2 sons, Ronnie (Sheila) Robinson of Shreveport, LA and William Curtis Robinson of Dallas, TX; 3 grandchildren, Toya and William Robinson, both of Dallas, TX and Lesli Slider of Los Angeles, CA; 5 great-grandchildren, Da’Rontae, Daria, Daelyn, Darian and Ciara; special cousins, Lucille Robinson, T.J. Robinson and Clara Brandon; 2 sisters-in-law, Mary Johnson and Pashan Bell; daughter-in-law, Ruth Robinson; a host of many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends including special friends, Bro. Roscoe Parks, Bro. Otis Marshall, Bro. Jake Moton and Antioch Deacon’s Board. Deacon Robinson was preceded in death by his wife, Lydia Robinson; sister, Tommie Bailey; wife, Annie L. Robinson; father, Dudley Robinson; and mother Willie Shuler. The family would like to express special thanks to Pastor Lewis Randolph and the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church family and the many acts of kindness shown to them during their father’s illness and during this bereavement hour.
