HOGAN, Dea. Robert L. - Age 79, passed away Thursday, August 21, 2008 at his residence. Family hour 10:30AM Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at North Star Missionary Baptist Church, 1657 Broadway Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11AM. Pastor James O. Flowers officiating. Interment New Praire Grove Cemetery, Starkville, MS. Family and friends will assemble at the church 10:30AM Wednesday. Dea. Hogan will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 3PM-8PM Tuesday. After the funeral service on Wednesday, Dea. Hogan will be taken to West Memorial Funeral Home, 103 Jefferson St., Starkville, MS, 39759 (1-800-363-1349). Deacon Robert L. Hogan was born April 11, 1929 in Starkville, MS, the son of Albert and Martha Lou Hogan. Dea. Hogan accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior, he was an active member of North Star Missionary Baptist Church. He graduated from high school and entered into the U.S. Army where he was wounded in the line of duty. Dea. Hogan was Honorably Discharged and received a Purple Heart Medal. He served as deacon until his death. Dea. Hogan previously served in the Senior Choir, Missionary Society and Security. He worked for General Motors for 29 years before retiring. Deacon Robert L. Hogan leaves to cherish his memory: 6 daughters, Marlene (Gregory) Neely, Rose (Bruce) Sledge, Julia Yarbrough, Vicki (Danny) Greene, Theresa Sherman, Imari Burse; 6 sons, Robert (Linda) Vaughn, Henry (Jacqueline) Vaughn, Darnell Sherman, M.L. (Connie) Sherman, Richard (Helen) Vaughn, David (Mary) Hogan; 43 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Roxie Taylor, Lillian Hogan both of Starkville, MS and Linda Hogan of St. Louis, MO; brother, Melvin Hogan of North Carolina; 3 sisters-in-law, Rosaland Hogan, Lula Mae Hogan and Mary Elizabeth Foster; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Aaron Flood, Min. James Boyce, Marvin Baker, Lewis Larry, Ronnie Crawford, Melvin Hargrow, Williams family, NcNeal family, Deloach family, Vincent family, the entire North Star Missionary Baptist Church family. Deacon Robert L. Hogan was preceded in death by parents, Albert and Martha Lou Hogan; wife, Bessie V. Hogan; siblings, Isaiah Kemp, John Arthur Hogan, Albert Hogan, Jr., Harry Foster, Gertha Kemp, Sammie Ware; grandchild, Stephanie Neely.
