CLARK, Mr. David "Day Day" Wayne - Age 57, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Hurley Medical Center. Public viewing, Thursday, May 2, 2019 from 10:00 AM-3:00 PM with family present from 2:00 PM-3:00 PM to receive friends, from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. Interment 3:30 PM at Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. David “Day-Day” Wayne Clark was born May 18, 1961 in Flint, Michigan to John Dee Clark and Dorothy Ree Clark. He attended Flint Central High School where he enjoyed wrestling, football and shop class. David liked going fishing, being outdoors, and acquiring all types of gadgets. David was a handyman and excellent mechanic. He was also known to diffuse dangerous situations of conflict between others. David married Clydie Lay in 1982 and had 3 children. He loved spending time with family and friends. His biggest enjoyment was spending time with his children and 11 grandchildren; developing a tight bond with his oldest grandson Jeramiah and showing them all a ton of love. As a father, he excelled them all. David gave meaning to the term in so many ways – his presence, his support, his example, and love was consistent throughout his life. He provided support to his children’s hopes and dreams no matter the cost and worked hard to help them pursue opportunities and develop skills that would lead to independence. “Day-Day” taught them values of integrity, responsibility, and love. He often took out time to take them on trips down south, fishing, and to state parks. Although, he had strict rules to protect them, he also knew how to let them spread their wings and fly once the time came although it was not always easy. David was known for being a seeker of knowledge and seemed to have information on all subjects like a walking encyclopedia. He analyzed life through math, science, and nature. David would often say “God is the greatest mathematician.” He was very innovative and had an entrepreneurial spirit that he explored from time to time. His meticulous attention to detail was displayed in all of his work and he took pride in excellent workmanship. “Day-Day” was intrigued by intellectual conversation and could literally strike up a conversation with anyone. He especially enjoyed his McDonald’s Buddies, whom he spent plenty of mornings shooting the breeze with. “Day-Day” was the life of parties and family gatherings. He was also known to be helpful and nurturing to others whether it was family, friends, or even strangers. David had a charming charismatic nature and occasionally loved to sing but he also had a tough spirit. No matter the challenge or the adversity, he always stood up for what he believed in and was very clear on his stance. His strength was insurmountable and seemed to weather the greatest of storms. David was able to battle the most difficult of life challenges until the very end. David “Day-Day” Wayne Clark leaves to cherish his memory: 4 children, 2 daughters, Tawanda N. Clark, of Flint, Michigan and Davida M. (Max) Jackson, of Grand Blanc, Michigan; son, David W. (Kameela) Clark, of Silver Spring, Maryland; step-daughter, Qeetoya M. Lay, of Los Angeles, California; Eleven grandchildren, Jeramiah, Quintarius, Anniyah, Katrina, Anyashia, Omega, and Terrian, all of Flint, Michigan, Gabriella and Angelina, of Grand Blanc, Michigan, Tariq David and Talib Wayne, both of Silver Spring, Maryland; sister, Pauline Dean; two brothers, Frederick (Annie) Clark and Daryl R. Clark; two step-brothers, Byron (Suzette) Smith, and John M. Smith; three step-sisters, Bolivia Burkette, Dianna Smith, and Marion Hattiesburg, Mississippi and Hattie Clark of Flint, Michigan; four uncles, Johnny Fleming of New Orleans, LA, Alex Fleming of Fayette, Mississippi, Frank Clark and Daniel Clark, both of Union Church, Mississippi; cousin, Robert “Tuffy” Clark of Flint, Michigan, a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Jeffrey Anderson of Flint, Michigan, Andrea (Jerome) Lewis of Atlanta, Georgia, Edward Cabine of Portland, Oregon, Dianne Fox-Miller, of Conyers, Georgia and Pat Norris of Michigan. David was preceded in death by parents, John Dee and Dorothy Ree Clark; grandparents, Riley and Narciss Clark of Union Church, Mississippi, Herman Williams and Mary Fleming, both of Fayette, Mississippi; and brother, Jerry Lee Clark. The family would like to express special thanks to the Hurley Medical Center I.C.U. and I.C.C.U. staff, the staff of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, step-brother, Byron Smith for all your help and support when our father needed it most.
