David Bailey

BAILEY, Mr. David - Age 84, passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at Hurley Medical Center. Family Hour 10:30AM Saturday, January 3, 2009 at Evangelistic Temple Church, 1819 Welch Blvd., (on the corner of Welch Blvd and Ballenger Hwy), with funeral service commencing at 11AM, Eld. Joe Robinson officiating. Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, G-5175 E. Bristol Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30AM Saturday. Mr. Bailey will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 10AM-8PM Friday. Mr. David M. Bailey was born on January 18, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of George and Rosetta Bailey. He had been a resident of Flint, MI since the 1950’s. David was employed by the City of Flint-City Scales for several years and Buick a Division of General Motors retiring in 1975. He continued to be active after retirement by owning and operating a restaurant, a dry cleaners and Bailey’s Income Tax Service for over 50 years. Mr. Bailey enjoyed fishing, music, ceramics, movies, cooking and playing games such as dominoes and cards with his family and friends. He loved spending time with his family telling life experiences he recently said “I never thought I would live to see a Black President”. Mr. Bailey loved the Lord and was a former member and Deacon at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Mr. David M. Bailey leaves to cherish his memory: 3 daughters, Shaaneki (Anthony) Bailey, Lolita (Dean) Martin all of Flint and Maryann (Herman) Bailey-Word of Chicago, IL; 2 sons, Tremayne and Victor Bailey both of Flint; grandchildren, Laquisha, Kelita, Kelise, Nickolas, Erica, Jaquain, DeRicko, Tationa, Zatavia, DeRomeo, Tyvon, Larry Jr., Dantoine, LaNay and Tiffany; great-grandchildren, Antwain and Keairon, Ariyanna, Niya, Amariya and Larry; step-daughters, Shelia Brezzell, Donna Clark, Kelly Bailey and Shannon Bailey all of Flint; brother, John Bailey of Chicago, IL; a host of other relatives and friends including Shirley Gant and goddaughter, Euleen Thornton. Mr. Bailey was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Maude Esther Bailey; sons, David and Robert Bailey; parents; sisters, Rosetta and Ruth; and brothers, George, Anderson and Clarence. The family would like to express special thanks to Pastor and Mother Robinson and the entire Evangelistic Temple Church family and Anthony Smith.
