Mr. Dave Henderson Jr.

HENDERSON, Mr. Dave Jr. - Age 69, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2017 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Canaan Baptist Church, 910 E. Gillespie Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Pastor Charles E. Roots Pastor. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Saturday. Mr. Henderson now lies in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 11:00 AM - 8:00 PM today. Mr. Dave Henderson Jr. was born June 7, 1948 in Smackover, Arkansas, the son of Dave and Sula (Folger) Henderson. He attended Smackover Training High School. Dave was a resident of Flint, Michigan and a member of Canaan Baptist Church. He was employed at Buick Motor Company, a division of General Motors and was a member of UAW Local #599. Dave enjoyed watching football, baseball, Basketball and working with the Flint Fury Football Team. He loved nice cars and was a sharp dresser. Mr. Dave Henderson Jr. leaves to cherish his memory: beloved wife of 44 years, Callie Henderson; 2 daughters, Janeen Wheeler, both of Flint and Evelyn Amerson of Grand Rapids, MI; 2 sons, David Henderson and Eric Henderson; grandchildren, Ariel Henderson (he raised like a daughter), Tiara Wheeler, all of Flint, Shakira Pollard of Atlanta, GA, Devonte Wheeler, Eundra Wheeler, both of Flint, Tyler Clark of Ohio and Tyrik Pollard of Flint; a host of great-grandchildren; sister, Ida Mae Salone of Richmond, CA; brother, Rev. R.J. Henderson of Smackover, AR; a host of nieces and nephews including special nieces, Bridgett and Jacqueline Jackson, both of Arkansas; god-daughter, Roslyn Boyce; god-sister, Doris Gray, both of Flint; sisters-in-law, Betty Flowers of Mt. Morris, MI and Stella Amerson; brothers-in-law, James Amerson and Cliff Amerson, all of Flint; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, Samuel Nettle, Joe Wheeler, Joe Ross, Joe and Leon Sims, Rev. John Gray and Fred Howard. Mr. Henderson was preceded in death by his son, Derrick Henderson; grandson, Derrick Henderson Jr.; parents, Dave and Sula Henderson; 5 sisters, Virginia, JoAnn, Lavada, Etta Jean and Mildred; 3 brothers, Floyd, Jimmy and Willie; 2 nephews, Floyd Jr. and Vincent; sister-in-law, Ruby Nell Henderson; 4 brothers-in-law, Willie Wilson, Milton Sloan, Mathew Ormond and George Flowers; and best friend, Charlie Miles. The family would like to express special thanks to nurses/friend, Marilyn Martin, Martisha Pollard; the Cooper, Lawler, Gray and Zayas families, Canaan Baptist Church family and Debra Miller, Dr. Mendoza, Dr. Maalab and the McLaren-Flint 11th Floor staff.
