Mr. Darius Dequan Townsend

TOWNSEND, Mr. Darius Dequan "D.D." - Age 17, passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 12, 2013 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Rev. Dr. Danyiel Griffin, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 a.m. Monday. Mr. Townsend will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. Mr. Darius D. Townsend was born August 31, 1995 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Kamietra Townsend and Darnell Wilson. Darius attended Flint Community Schools and was currently attending Mt. Morris Alternative School as a senior, due to graduate, “Class of 2014.” He was currently employed with Career Alliance. Darius loved being around his family, going shopping, playing video games and basketball and he couldn’t live without his cell phone. Darius had a special love in his heart for kids. He had a smile and a hug that would brighten our day. Mr. Darius D. Townsend leaves to cherish his memory: mother, Kamietra Townsend; grandparents, Estella Gould, Renee Wilson of Flint; step grandmother, Kay Gould; 2 sisters, Shanelle and Tyairah Hall; special brother and friend, Lajuan Kelly; 4 aunts, Katrina, Kassandra, Akieta Townsend, all of Flint and LaKasha (Ryan) Williams of Ypsilanti, MI; great aunt, JoAnn Wilson of Flint; uncles, Robert Townsend, David Witherspoon, Louis Gould, Jimmie (Denise) Wilson and Dawayne Wilson; 39 cousins including special cousins, Domica “Penny” Wilson, TyReese Wilson, Marshall Howell and Reese Wilson; a host of other relatives and friends including special God mothers, Verona Terry and Venetta Beene, and best friend, Tearius Price and special aunt, Akieta Townsend. Mr. Townsend was preceded in death by his father, Darnell Wilson; grandmother, Andrea Townsend; grandfather, Darnell Gould; great grandmother, Lola Mae Wilson; great-grandfather, Roy Gould; and aunt, Jackie Wilson.
