JOHNSON, Mrs. Dana Velora - Age 71, passed away Friday, June 13, 2025, in Murfreesboro, TN. Family hour 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 2, 2025, from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Pastor Janard Lakes, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:00 AM Wednesday. Mrs. Johnson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Tuesday. Mrs. Dana Velora Johnson-Washington was born on October 11, 1953 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Daniel and Ora Lewis Sr. Dana resided in Flint, where she attended Flint Northwestern High School and Mott Community College. In December of 1998, she married her love, Melvin Washington. Dana worked for General Motors Corporation for over 30 years. She enjoyed family gatherings, feeding and caring for people and animals. Dana also loved going to the casino and talking and laughing on the phone. Mrs. Dana Velora Johnson-Washington leaves to cherish her memory: 3 daughters, LaToya (Dennis) of Murfreesboro, TN, LaVonda of Nashville, TN and Alaysha (Howard) of Flint; son, Willliam of Middleburg, FL; 2 brothers, Daniel (Janice) Jr. and Dr. Nathaniel (Geraldine) Sr.; sister, Velma Jean Caudle; 10 grandchildren, Roshandra, Qua’Daysha (Ronnell) Laeon Jr., Qua’Neisha (Jerrel), Qua’Taizha (De’Shawn), Jabari, Denn’Quiese, Aubree, Ameena, and Taitum; 4 great-grandchildren, A’niyah, Ricardo, De’Noriay and Quraan; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins that she loved so dearly including, Barbara Moore, LaTrece Davis, Sherrion Jenkins, Sharon Harris, Marshall (Buster) Clarke, Broderick Washington, Sherry Shuman and Maris Ann Davis. Dana was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Washington; son, Laeon Lewis; step-son, ShuRonn Robinson; parents, Daniel Sr. and Ora Lewis. The family would like to give thanks to everyone that played a part in making Dana’s life heartfelt and one to remember.
