STRICKLAND, Mrs. Dallene - Age 65, passed away Friday, October 1, 2010 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10 a.m. Friday, October 8, 2010 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11 a.m., Dr. James O. Flowers, Sr., officiating. Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, G-5175 E. Bristol Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10 a.m. Friday. Mrs. Strickland will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12Noon-8 p.m. Thursday. Mrs. Dallene Strickland was born July 20, 1945 in Camden, Arkansas, the daughter of Azzie Lee and Burley Lamar, Sr. Dallene was employed as a Cook at the family restaurant, Kings Fish-N-BBQ. She accepted the Lord as her personal savior at an early age; she had a strong love and appreciation for the Lord. Mrs. Strickland loved her family; especially her grandchildren in which she took part in raising all of them. Dallene loved cooking, especially BBQ; which she would do at any given time; including during the winter. She loved sitting on her front porch and talking to her neighbors. Dallene was a very outspoken lady and wasn’t afraid to say what was on her mind. She loved listening to Blues and Gospel music. Dallene also loved to travel south to visit her family. Mrs. Dallene Strickland leaves in God’s hands to cherish her memories: husband, Lee Strickland; 3 daughters, Alene Weston, Charlotte (Michael Brown) and Sonya Strickland; 1 daughter\granddaughter, Keosha (Deondric) Nettles; 9 grandchildren, DeAndre, Romenisha, Joslyn, Lia, Jerry, Malik, Charneice and Tamara; including her favorite boy, Omar; who she loved to spend time with; 3 great-grandchildren, Journey, Jaida and Michael; 1 sister, Olla Matthews; sister-in-law, Mary Lamar; 2 brothers, Lovie (Joyce) Lamar and Burley (Theresa) Lamar, Jr.; nieces, Tyrina, Latanya and Leslie Lamar, Bobbie Gilbert and Jewel Williams; nephews, Henry (Bertha) Williams, Lee Williams, Matthew Williams; special daughters, Gina (Michael) Cury and Beverly Hill; special sons, Eric Williams, Linn Johnson and Anthony Love; special friend, Denise Green; a host of other relatives and friends. Mrs. Strickland was preceded in death by her daughter, Fannie Mae; 2 sons, Baby Strickland and Lee David Strickland; parents, Azzie and Burley Lamar, Sr.; sister, Halene Fogle; and brother, Thomas Lamar. The family would like to express special thanks to DaVita Dialysis, the doctors and nurses at Hurley Medical Center ICU unit, Dr. James O. Flowers, Sr. and the Amazing Grace Ministries.
